As you say ‘ now what next.’ Recognition can be psychological as you say, and hence the importance of the US President Joe Biden’s recognition that the atrocities were a genocide. I think Armenians generally will feel safer and more secure as a result of that recognition by the most powerful nation in the world. It could be a stepping stone that in years to come with the change of government in Turkey, there may also be physical recognition helping the healing process as you say.

A friend of mine at UWL where I teach on Wednesdays had Covid last March. His ventilator Was switched off at 8.pm on 27th March2020. Yesterday Saturday 27th March 2021 we held a vigil between 7.30 pm until 8 pm. We lit candles and blew them out at 8pm. Indeed we need 2 jabs. We must be optimistic. We will get the full vaccine!

You and Maya brought much positivity in your joint talk on the Pope’s visit to Mosel Iraq. People appear to be more vocal and relaxed as a result of the visit. This is a good start and I hope the exposure to Christianity will be a stepping stone for the Iraqi government to become more flexible and open minded towards religious freedom and democracy. However change will take time. I hope we live to see the changes take place. I say this because I wonder if that change is going to be a possibility in our life time. After all the invasion of Iraq was based on hope, that Iraq would be an amazing country to live in without Sadam and his government. As history has shown this was not to be.
