I have never seen inner tie rods have this kind of wear in my life. I recently replaced inner tie rods on my 1999 bmw 3 series. They were the originals, bmw stamped and lemforder brand. Although they were not as tight as the brand new ones they definitely had no play like is seen here. My best guess is the boots on the tie rods above were missing or damaged because the inner tie rods should not even look that rusty.

Drove this trail in 2005 with in a 1990 Montero. Also camped there a time or two. We went inside some of the old mineshafts that are scattered around the area. I heard they were blocking them off though. Beautiful country.
