Thanks for the video. Just subscribed. If you’re bottling the cider, do you need to add priming sugar? Or is there enough sugar remaining to self carbonate?
@sunsethoundbrewing Жыл бұрын
There will be enough sugars left for bottling. The remaining sugars will be used for the carbonation so your cider would be dryer than what you bottled originally. I would try it with and without the priming sugar and see which you prefer.

Claw hammer added acid to lower PH to 4.3 and suggest using 2 gram of hops per gallon. I used 6 grams per. and added the hops to water at room temperature. Turns out good, no bitterness.

I'm doing double brew day starting Friday night after work. Will be up all night probably. May as well throw on a brisket and a pork butt for a bbq I'm throwing on Sunday afternoon. Good advice and great video, especially not drinking too early. If I do drink, it's light beers and only a few.

It’s a fun time. Good luck. I don’t recommend it but I would do it again.

Prepping the night before helps know if you need something or need more preparation like a starter or making rice or whatever so that your brew day goes as smooth as possible. And yes to everything you said all really good points.

Good vidya Sunset. I know you asked us to tell you what we would like to see you do, but I would never be so audacious as it would be to tell a man what to do, even if he asked for it. LOL. Beer looks great bud. Cheers.

I save yeast from time to time. Watched a great video from Clawhammer Supply on washing and storing yeast. My next brew I’m building a bigger yeast starter so I can save the extra yeast for a later brew.
@beeroquoisnation2 жыл бұрын
@@blackwoodbrews I believe there are some limits to the number of generations you can use. It probably would be more ideal to make a starter and multiply colonies from the original, than use those colonies as starters for batches than to multiply from a colony used to ferment multiple batches. Cheers.

Just brain storming here: use distilled water, rise pH through baking soda or quartz porphyry. Try, firstly, short cycles in pressure cooking "steam" plus late addition rests for aromas, experiment short to long cold crush filtration effect on colloidal materials alfa acids/tannins/oils. Ok I'll admit, this last stage may be rather predictable, but never the less, a sufficient result may still be achieved in matter of flavours complexity. FYI I'm not expert by any means, this is just food for thoughts. Regards.

Great vid man I have been making this same Cider for the last year and it is always a hit. HEB juice works so well!! Also see if your HEB has the Gallon jugs so that you don't end up with so many bottles. Also another really good juice to use is the Walmart Great Value juice supper cheap and comes out really crisp and clean!! IDK if it is just me but the audio in this vid was a bit low. Have a good one!!

Appreciate the feedback. I’ll have to try the Walmart brand next time and see if it’s different.

Thank you for the video, sir! Is it worth following a typical "brew" schedule for the hops? Start with maybe an ounce at the start of a 60-min boil, then add a few ounces later for flavor and aroma? Any thoughts?
@sunsethoundbrewing2 жыл бұрын
Add the hops at whirlpool. Temp should be around 170 f. I used 4 oz and it was over saturated at first. Over time the keg mellowed out.

I Haven't had a bad Bell's yet. Good job on duplicating the SRM. I would guess if you had got closer to that 10% milestone it might be even darner than it is. I usually say with intended sarcasm, anything above 8% we need start measuring proof. 10% is a big beer for sure. Nice work. Cheers SHB.

Hop Slam is such a good beer I wish they made it year round. If you got it close you did a great job, certainly got the color down. Cheers dude!
