one of my 70's/ 80's failures was seeing them live

Thats a very good band. They are all sold players.

"Bye Bye Love" is one of my all time favorite songs.

The band I've heard while shopping at Home Depot more than any other except maybe The Eagles, and I've spent DAYS at Home Depot. Then I'm hearing The Cars in my head for the next few days and it's always good.

I hear more VU again but those changes due seem like the same era as Steely Dan...lots of jazzy fusiony FM sounds.

I love these songs...i loved the Cars but always wanted them to stretch out a bit...here it is. Its funny in a different world they could of reconvened as Capn Swing...just them in disguise some kinda of off shoot...many artists do it now. The keys are their but Doorsy jazzy not synths. EE guitars are all mucho Frippery! Ben and Ric are killing it.

Little bits of Sweet Jane in this one...Ric/Ben doing their John/Paul combined composite vocal thing...i really like these songs...expanded Cars 🚗

Truly amazing live band. They sound just like the record, no auto tune, no monitors on stage. Probably their regular gear, simple, natural sound with excellent balance. They must have done hundreds of shows before this one. Total pros. So awesome.

What does Elliot have stuck in the button hole on his shirt? It looks like a spoon.

Ben had tons of great bass lines. And as the band's bassist, he was a chick magnet. RIP Ben and Rick, who sadly passed away on my birthday in 2019.

Nobody realizes or cares that Benjamin Orr and Tommy Wiseau are the same person. Man fuck music. These guys did not belong in this reality or on this planet. We didn’t deserve their gift sad

The audio mix engineer should find another job. No reverb anywhere. Just dry weak mics. But the amazing CARS plow through!

Really nice clear video. Rare for back in the day. Thank you for sharing. My sis and I were lucky enough to see them when they were just getting big. "THE MOTELS" opened for them. It was in a school gymnasium. Sis and I made it to the stage in front of Ben and Elliot. They paid no mind to us teens. We couldn't get in front of Ric. Too many dudes. So, later we had to wee. We went to the ladies room. We came out and I told my sister to be nice and to throw the trash in the bin. I was looking around in my bag for my hair brush. Sis punched my back. I paid no attention. Then she hit me harder. I was still preoccupied. She HIT ME HARDER! "WHAT?!!!" Yelled. She pointed to the stage. THE, RIC OCASEK, WAS STARING AT US! Sis took the opportunity to snap a Polaroid!!!! She has that picture somewhere. I think I just stared opened mouthed. 😳😳😳😳! Isn't there a song "Polaroid Picture" somewhere? 😂

What kind of synth is that used for the solo in Bye Bye Love? It's not a Moog. I can't place it. Would have been a real early one, with this being 1978. Edit: Well, I answered my own question. It was a Univox K-2 Mini-Korg.

Why this was never released as a single is beyond me. I understand that this is pre-Cars and the Capt-Swing era but dang it’s such a great song. And Benjamin brings it to life with his sultry voice. If any record company turned this down they oughta be ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES!!!
