First heard PT in the pre-show house music at an Incubus show ('Morningview' tour). The song was "Blackest Eyes", and it blew me away. I spent the entire concert trying to remembering the name of the band and the song. Been a huge fan ever since. Of PT, and Steven Wilson's work overall. The guy is brilliant. I'm not as big a fan of the current PT lineup. John Wesley is missing from the lineup for sure, I think. It was interesting seeing them become more popular during their break than they were before.

In this song Tartarus refers to a character in the halo games, and it talks about the final battle where they manage to beat tartarus. The speaking part, and the whole song in general, is about being at the end of the war, on the brink of extinction, with so many dead after years of war, and finding the strength to go on in the fact that theres been this many lost already, the main character might not survive and make it home but he has to do his job and fight to save the ones he loves

Car Bomb is my favorite band, but Sets is their weakest song imo. Try Blackened Battery.

Props to you for reacting to "Here Come The Tears" and "Dissident Aggressor" as a double-feature. Even though they don't really have anything in common lyrically, the flow of the vibes and the transition from one song to the other make them inseparable, IMO. This whole album is a *masterpiece* of metal, and these 2 songs are the high point.

The balance of the mix is just incredible : you hear the drum and the bass like a magic carpet . On the front but very soft . KK downing (or Glenn Tipton) solo emulates the sitar playing, and at the beginning the guitarist is obviously influenced by Gilmour . The touch of synth makes it perfect . Not talking of the voice of Rob Halford of course . This song is definitively a genre in itself, prog but not with the fluent licks (they will use for Dreamer , or Beyod the realm of death, based on 12 strings acoustic guitars they took from Genesis).

The prog era of Genesis was brilliant to understand Genesis post Peter Gabriel you've got to understand this era of music and development from a underground prog rock band to late 70's 80's mainstream group

My wife hates it too. She likes Dua Lipa and Whigfield. Lol. In fairness, this is not an easy entry into Genesis. I also think you have to have a wider literary background to appreciate the context of these ideas. Genesis are a remote mountain, hard to climb, but what a view....

They are more akin to Metallica with a little more technicality. In addition, Dirk Verbeuren, Megadeth's current drummer did a stint with them too.
