In Mexico every pet reptile has to be a registered animal that has paperwork and a QRCode. That's why reptiles cost three times more in Mexico to buy even from a Petco. Also they basically only have very common things iguanas ball pythons etc

The Anaheim show had very few Carpets. I was looking for a Bredli but none to be found. I ended up with a jungle carpet from the one seller that had three. Now I have a Bredli reserved with Riley.

I've noticed my big male soaks a lot if the time and he is faster to grab his rat if he is in the water tub (he's to big to fit in a bowl, lol). One of my females definitely sits in the water bowl with her head locked back in ambush pose at night.

Another great show!!!! Touching on those lamps vs heat panels; since the lamps have a tungsten filament they produce infrared A radiation vs the heat panels that only produce infrared C radiation. I’ve noticed different basking behaviors in all my reptiles after switching to incandescent lamps.

It is definitely still a lot of work keeping animals outside, even in their natural range. Yes, you get the benefits of natural light and larger spaces but trying to provide the correct microclimates within the cage can take a lot of trail and errors to get it right.

First Time listener, gotta say it's fun to hear all the stories about owning and breeding short tail pythons. I had no idea some of the stories that could occur when dealing with wild or just rowdy ones. I recently Got my own blood a few months back and she handles pretty well, no bites yet.

Not relating to this specific video, but your morphmarket updates should include animals sold. This is a stat we breeders really care about.

Great show as usual guys! I think you missed an opportunity though to discuss how the temperature, humidity, and other factors that we can collect data on from weather sources applies to the microhabitats that reptiles typically inhabit for the majority of their lives. This relates to how we approach keeping them in captivity because typically it's the conditions of the microhabitat(s) that we are trying to re-create for them in a captive environment.

Still deciding between the Papuan or the Bredli
@cherylotto9760Ай бұрын
I own a Bredli and my husband has a 2:2 pair of Julattens. Imo.. space difference would be the main consideration. Although, if breeding I do believe you have to get the Bredli a lot colder to cycle.

the 350+nm range is actually quite nice for the “bar” 10W lamp. Here’s a spectral chart of it with the UVB diodes dimmed down to 0%. There’s a whole bunch of caveats, but in terms of spectrum it’s actually quite nice in this configuration. It’s the lack of 325nm diodes (or, rather, activity in this range from around 315-340) ultimately that is the potential issue. as designed these definitely fall into the unsafe category, mainly because there’s no UVA2 to regulate D3 synthesis. However, if you turn the UVB diodes OFF with the remote, then the UVA1+white LEDs together produce a more sun-like visible spectrum for in terms of reptiles’ color vision than ordinary white LEDs on their own. In other words, as long as you *don’t* use the device as it was intended, it’s alright. Used as intended, it will result in off the charts D3 production (hypervitaminosis), leading to conjunctivitis. (Hopefully future LED offerings don’t come with so many caveats) In short, my worries are not put to rest :/ Great episode overall!!

It's just hard for me to take their word for it when somone that works with them on designing and testing bulbs and lamps says the lack of certain wavelengths of uva make these lamps unsafe to use (the terrasky). Can't for terrasky 2 that will adress these issues. Till then, im waiting on the new exo t5's
