Thanks for this run-down! I've been practicing on a ThereMINI for almost a month and I'm having so much fun with it, they load a lot of different voicings, scale sets, modulation and even have a pitch correct option which is super helpful as a beginner. Definitely gonna record some stuff with it soon.

What an awesomely entertaining barrage of Mellotron madness! We LOVE Mellotron too! and use a vintage M400 (with 4 tape frames), 2 Mellotron Micro's, an M4000D (with 5 Sound Cards) and also several Mellotron apps for iPad or iPhone. You can never have too much Mellotron!

you don't need 15 seconds, you just need a stopwatch. Most smartphones come with one already So you just press start and stop in your stopwatch with the beat. Here are the details: The way I calculate it without any metronome (software or hardware) is, admittedly, a bit nerdy. Using a stopwatch app, most mobiles come with one already, just go to settings>apps>stopwatch open the stopwatch app then 1) listen to the song, tap the beat, get into it, until you're tapping it accurately most likely, the song will be in four beats to a bar (4/4) and then 2) with while you sing out the beat or tap it, quickly go to the stopwatch app an pres the start/stop button on the beat twice to start and stop the stopwatch 3) Look at the time elapsed between the two beats 4) Open a calculator divide the number 6000 (i.e. the number of hundreds of a second contained in a minute) by the two digits on the right of your stopwatch after the seconds in this case my stopwatch gave me the reading 00:00.53 which is 00 minutes 00 seconds and 53 hundreds of a second so I divide 6000 (i.e. the amount of hundreds of a second in one minute) by 53 hundreds of a second (i.e. duration of beat in this song is 53 hundreds of a second) and this division equals 113.207.... beats in a minute with 53 hundreds of a second of duration) ..... and you round this off to the nearest integer 113 bpm! aaaaaaaaahhhh (sigh) 😍😍😍 maths 😂😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣

Your body is the only part of the instrument you can play, the hands and the 'antennas' form two variable capacitors within the electronic circuit of the instrument. Did you know that Moog Music has receently stopped production of the Etherwave Standard and Plus models?
@matcreedon3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for your explanation, absolutely fantastic! No, I had no idea, I wonder if a new model is coming?
@dread_rat3 жыл бұрын
@@matcreedon right now it seems Moog are producing the Theremini and the Claravox Centennial limited edition theremin, what theremin(s) they will produce after the limited Claravox production run is complete for now remains speculative, perhaps a somewhat more budget-friendly analog/digital hybrid based on to the Claravox circuitry, but in a less luxury /expensive form factor?
