This was a really great walkthrough. Thank you for putting it together. If you happen to see the message, I do have a question. I played Viola in the Orchestra at Eastman but have started playing piano a few years ago. Currently at a level 7 (RCM). Have a lot of interest in playing musicals at a local level or for fun. Nothing professional. Is there a good source for trying to get musical instrument parts? This way I could practice and play along with recordings? Is there a different way of building your musical chops for theater as opposed to the standard classical teachings? Thanks again for the walkthrough.

Interesting...I am using keyboardtek programming for Mamma Mia and it utilizes Ultrabeat synth to create the click...not a sampler. It also states that the click will automatically start and stop as I advance through the patches, but this does not seem to be the case. I can't figure out how to get the auto start/stop function working...any insights on this? Still waiting on a response from keyboardtek...

There are different ways to create clicks. The fine folks at Keyboard Tek just chose a different method than I did. The click would need some sort of trigger to start. Powerful as MainStage, it doesn’t read minds (yet). If you are interested in some MainStage consulting, you can email me at david (at) davidbonofiglio.com

@@dmbonofiglio Thanks for your response. Yes I assumed that MainStage wasn't supposed to mind read. The Keyboardtek instructions talk about triggering with the Bb, and go on to say: "The click will automatically start when you patch forward from here, and will continue to stop/start automatically as you patch through the show." My assumption was that there was some sort of automation programmed as the patches change (triggering the on/off or mute button, etc), much like automation can be programmed in Logic and other DAWs. I also find in interesting that keyboartek uses two methods of creating a click for the same show. (sampler in your instance, soft synth In mine).

@@diazyseis i’m having the same issue with mine and I spoke to them about it on the phone. The advice I was offered was that you need to use an audio interface with multiple outputs because the click is set to output three and four I haven’t had a chance to try that yet. My version of the keyboard patches that were sent don’t have the separate wave files or clicks listed like this. It just has the tempos in the green click folders within main stage.

@@dandipasquale6913 thanks. This was the solution given to my keyboard 1 player and it did the trick (no mind reading involved): “It seems as though all the NEXT patch screen controls need to be assigned to CC66 only in order for this to work correctly.”

Question: do you have a percussion player or is it pre recorded
@dmbonofiglio
@dmbonofiglio 6 ай бұрын
We rolled the percussion book in to the drum book as we were able and cut the rest. Exception was the tambourine on Dancing Queen, which was prerecorded and triggered on click.

Angelo is Incredible, singing and playing. Niel on the piano is equally incredible. Fabulous Stuff. This is what makes Angelo's Lounge theeeeeee place to be in Milwaukee.
