These were good times for music the stuff they do today is a joke I am sure there are bands out there who do the same but the music industry doesn't want to know.

"The passenger" was such a manc tune, Cyprus tavern, oxford road, smallest dance floor imaginable, sweat coming off the walls

I don't understand how I've never seen this before, it's a cultural musical epic and thanks for uploading. And those adverts I do remember. That must be Miriam Margolyes doing that cluster advert. And Roger Daltrey doing the Amex, hilarious.

You forgot the bloke who single-handedly changed everything in 1979: Gary Numan.

What I'm noticing about this stuff is that it's pretty much just the same old rock 'n' roll but dressed in (kinda) new clothes. Most of these acts would have been folky singer-songwriters or glam poppers or prog rock or bubblegum bands if they'd come along in 1974 instead of 1977. A few - John Lydon, Iggy (obviously), the wonderful Ian Dury - are original artists, but none can be held up against Lou Reed, Bowie, Roxy Music or the Stones (etc.) as innovators and acts of true originality and depth. Punk was disposable, though some of the records are good pop music. For my money the best artist to come out of this period wasn't part of any genre or scene - Kate Bush.

Sunrise was a decent station actually. Had a variety and also played some reggae as well. Dj's would have a right laugh on air and done the camber weekenders as well.

I remember playing here with Lee and John, I was 15 years old and we called ourselves the Coney Island Jug Band (Lee's idea). We got free beer, John played 12 string, Lee played banjo and I played washboard. I remember Chris playing the shears and an old boot we had nailed to a broomstick. Great club and pleased to see it's still going Andy Roberts
