If you’re just replacing those 5-33uf 35v caps, you don’t have to actually desolder thr entire amp board that has the cage around it. You can just remove a single 470uf 200v cap in order to access the underside of the caps you want to replace. jus remove the cap that’s second from the right and it exposes enough space to remove and replace those 5 caps. Saves a lot of time and patience removing all those pins keeping the whole board soldered in. You do have to remove as much of the cage as possible of course. But significantly easier to remove a single large cap than the entire board.

When I took it apart, there was a birds nest of wire through the vent pole under the magnet. So that tells me the voice coil is also shot. I sent a service request of Validyne and we’ll see how much it cost for a new speaker and then I will fix, the preamplifier and amplifier section because mine looks exactly like yours. I have friends that work at high end guitar pedal companies and bioanalytical companies that do soldering all the time so they will do it right.

@@greggkathy1892 I am sorry, it was long time ago, I’m not sure, but bad capacitors are very common issues, specially if your sub was working, then it stopped working for no reason. Good luck

How were you able to open the lid like that? I have a C-25. I see the hinges. But something is keeping the lid from swinging open? Could you please give me some clues?

I don't remember exactly, there should be some black Long screws in the bottom, try unscrewing them.

@@artsvideoonline thanks. I finally figured it out by trial and error. On the underside of the C-25, there are five screws along the left and right edge (total of 10 that appear along both sides). You must remove four of those five underside screws (from front to back, total of 8 screws) from the left and right sides of the keyboard. Closer to the front of the keyboard, the corner screw on each side also go through the leg assembly. While those corner screws need to be removed, the next (or second) screw (moving front to back) that goes through the leg assembly does NOT need to be removed. But then, the screw after that (which also goes through the leg assembly) must be removed. And then, there are two more screws (neither associated with the leg assembly) as you move from front to back that must also be removed. So, four screws on each side, total of 8 that need to be removed. Hope that helps others who were deseparately looking for the this info. I do not know if it's the same for other other models like the C-15.

Похоже у вас была утечка электролита из планарных конденсаторов, от чего у вас появился шум, советую поменять все планарные конденсаторы мезапланарными. Не пользуйтесь паяльником снимая старые, просто плоскогубцами крутите влево-вправо одновременно нажимая на плату,таким образом сломайте ножки образом ломая ножки, после чего помойте плату спиртом, сушите и ставьте новые конденсаторы. Удачи вам.

Hello I own a Minivee 8” from Velodyne and the electronics look almost identical to yours. My problem is the subwoofer turns on and hums only. In your experience could this also be a capacitor issue? I was hoping for an easier fix like a bad ground but the obvious connections like LFE input seem fine. Any suggestions? Thank you

Hi, I’m not someone who always fixes Velodine subs all the time, I just shared an experience I had with you and it helped many people. But in general the capacitors are BAD GUYS, if no fuse is burned it is very much possible that you have bad capacitors, specially if you didn’t use your sub for a long time then it broke for no reason. I have Kawai CN31 piano. It gives no sound. I have checked the capacitors on sound amplifier of my digital piano and got the following results in ESR levels. I used the peak ATLAS ESR70 gold. 10000 uF 25V - ESR 0.01 ohm - uF reading 8811uF 2200 uF 25V - ESR 0.02 ohm- uF reading 2015uF 470 uF 10V - ESR 0.20 ohm- uF reading 479uF 100 uF 25V - ESR 0.43 ohm- uF reading 98uF 47 uF 16V - ESR 0.64 ohm- uF reading 50uF 10 uF 16V - ESR 1.01 ohm- uF reading 11uF 1 uF 50V - ESR 1.10 ohm- uF reading 0.98uF I am especially suspicious about theIr results for 10 micro and 1 micro F. They should be around 8 and 5 respectively. Do these results mean that I need to change the 10 micro and 1 micro D capacitors? Thanks for your replies. Tan

hi, for the replace parts, what kind of capacitors did you use ? cause it's written 10.10v on it, i thought it is 10µf / 10 volts, but i don't find this kinf of capacitors ! Is it corret to put 10µf but with différent voltage ?? Thanks a lot !

You can use higher voltage, I used regular capacitors, you don’t have to use surface mounted ones. Do not use soldering iron to remove the bad ones, use i plyer, grab the capacitor, push it towards the board and twist it, that what you will brake the pins not damaging the board. Good luck.

confirmed replacing this single capacitor worked for me. Just be super careful around the VFD, it is glass and can be very fragile. I only pulled the top of the plastic away (never pressure on the glass). Specs of the (bad) capacitor: 2.5mm lead spacing 6.3mm diameter 6mm height pulled capacitor tested bad: 4uF, ESR 12Ω, Vloss 26%
