Months before Mr. Jimi ' died', i had a friend who had an older brother, and that summer he'd be humming that little ditty in the beginning of this jam,dit ditty,etc. didn't know it was from this until abt yr.& half later when I started my own album collection.all i knew of Hendrixvwas his pic in a magazine called Song Hits which had the lyrics to songs at the time.hecwas always in the back of my mind as a black rocker. I was coming home from football practice on a Friday ( J.V. didnt play that night ) and onthe front page of newspaper i saw in a store saying that he was dead....just like that.. nothing.i was just getting into rock, & he was snatched away. Never did i know that i was goingvto hear and learn just abt everything abt him .sometimes i would go to libraries lookin thru periodical subject books which showed when a subject was even mentioned in a magazine. books had indexes in the back that tell you the page a subject was mentioned on,i would do that on celebrities that were non- related.never did learn how to really play,but ive bought abt 10 guitars.

1970 Filmore East I do believe from memory. Billy Cox on Bass [Not Noel Redding as he quit 'The Experience',] Mitch Mitchell on Drums and the man, himself.:-Jimi. Come September 18, Jimi was gone. But his music is still timeless.

@@Mathaira I was right in assuming that you couldn't read. NO WHERE in my comment did I point with my middle finger, (I don't even know how that would be done). You are seeing things. If I meant to imply that I would say it clearly and directly. I've no real beef with you and I'm glad you responded back. Just don't read extra things into what people say to you. Jimi was very close to me and when I see something not right I speak out. I would suggest listening to anything off of Axis: Bold as Love or Electric Ladyland instead of his latter material, as he was pressured by business deals to fulfill contracts. The songwriting was much less ethereal and supernatural.

that riff ushers in the 70's--the swag, the loose feel and that "I am too hip to be trying to jive" attitude, along with the spiritual apprehension of the lyrics. As for the guitar, well, this sounds like black panther's marching in downtown Manhattan, while the ghosts of the Vietcong haunt the returning GI's back stateside. This performance always gets over shadowed by the "machine gun" that follows it, but I consider the narrative of this piece just as vital, if not more subtle and way less dramatic than what follows it.
