It’s hard to know how to defeat the problem of sibling rivalry when you had it with your own brother, as Adam had. When his brother Charles died, Adam and him had not spoken for 10 years. The parallels between Charles and Adam are startling to say the least, as they reflect the relationship between Cal and Aron. It’s hard to know the feelings of your own children when you’ve spent so many years in self-pity, as Adam did after his wife left him. If it weren’t for two friends who encouraged him not to give up, he might never have even tried to know his kids.
