It's. A good amp , but I just kanoodle around in my room at low volumes . This thing needs to be cranked and in a band . That tweed mid gnarl, doesn't shine alone and quiet in a room ;p

It is a good pickup . I switched it to another guitar and it's a lot better . I dunno why it was so bassy in that guitar . I probably had something wired a lil off . I stuck a dimarzio dactivator x , I think it's called . In my charvel and it sounds super

I agree. I should put them in my SG as well , the Les Paul is so heavy I never play it ;p

They are pow'r trons . TV Jones basically can make any of their filtertrons into any size . It's pretty neat

They sound really good . I've tried a ton of p90s . A lot to me sound too boomy in the neck and thin in the bridge . These do not . I never really "understood " the whole p90 sound people talk about . I always found they sounded to me bad and noisy . These sound good to me . If they have that p90 sound ? JJN says they do. He's probably a better expert than me

Thanks for the reply. I guess to me the “P90” sound is the whole midrange focus and growl that they can produce.

Also I guess I should have mentioned that I’m lean towards the harder rock spectrum of the p90 sound and not the jazz side

@@pippydog28 Have you tried Fishman Fluence Greg Koch P90? Sure, I have them, but I can't ever find any comparisons.

@@samsoliva I have not tried them . Would like to . I put in fishman pickups once . Was a long time ago , seemed like a major hassle . But may be easier now . Plus I understand how the wiring works now

They do sound good , and the people at TV Jones are awesome . If u have any issues or for some reason don't like them , they will work with you . I had some DeArmond pickups from them that didn't work out and they let me swap them

Weird how certain pickups in certain guitars sound so different . I stuck it in a charvel and I was underwhelmed, so changed that. Then was going to get rid of it. But stuck it in the Joan Jett guitar and it sounds great .

Nah just the jjn signature , and the regular neck . I was going to opt for the hot one to try , but liked the jjn so much I bought it again

I'm really thinking about doing the same on a 72 telecaster deluxe parts caster.

@@pippydog28 thanks for the demo and extra info. I'm a SD fan and try to buy them when I can. There's so many opinions on P90s online. And I don't want to mess around with the hum playing live. These should be perfect.

I like it . I didn't know what to expect when I bought it. Most of my pickups are vintage output . I have a few high output pickups . This sounds like the pegasus quite a bit , but quite a bit more aggressive . Not as articulate . Cleans sound good too . Sounds like the bass and middle are equal , def not scopped. I'm just finding out it's hard to describe a pickup ;p . I don't get the 80s hair metal vibe from it at all .

@@ccelaya I find it a lot better than the distortion . Especially on cleans. I find the distortion dull

@@pippydog28 I've used Distortions but many more Custom SH-5s. I am hoping this is midway between the two. I never expect high output pickups to sound good clean. If they do that's just happenstance. I prefer running in parallel or coil split mixed with other pups for cleans. The problem I have with the Distortion is that it's just way too much. You can't tame it in any way. It's like a foghorn.

Thanks ! Yep I found it a ton less muddy than the stock burstbucker . And a little less muddy than the lollar. It actually has a little more hum than the lollar though . Nothing too bad . I have a custombucker in the bridge and it's unpotted . They hum about the same . I think it's a good neck pickup . I haven't heard the bridge yet. I'll have to buy it and try it though .

And way less boomy .
