Hello, thank you for the video! I hage a question though...could we not start with the normal swatch and then increase to make the ruffle? I want to make a top that has a ruffle at the bottom edge so i was hoping to knit top-down

What multiple of cast on do you need for this? Ive trued so many different tutorials and i keep ending up with the wrong amound of stitches
@Josephtheft9 ай бұрын
I think she cast on 3x what is originally needed for a normal sock, since she decreases it 2/3rds of its stitches. Try your cast-on stiches, and times it by 3. That might work as a rule of thumb no matter what knitting pattern you use for this

I like your demonstration but your terminology is off - you are “decreasing” by slip one, knit one, pass slipped stitch over” (sl1, k1, psso). This is the correct terminology, not “casting off”. I know it’s the same technique but if you are teaching beginners, you should use the standard terminology that people will encounter in most patterns.

How much yarn did you need to make the big pumpkin in chunky yarn?
@LavenaPerry Жыл бұрын
The skein had 76 yards and I used most of it. I used yarn bee true colors, it’s a size 6 yarn. Hope that helps.

Hi, thanks for your video - your explanation is fantastic. I needed 80 stitches for my project, so I started the ruffle with 240 and reduced to 80, however, the project width is way too wide...what would you suggest I try now? M

Thank you for the helpful tutorial! I have a question, how would you go about making larger/ wider ruffles? will that depend on the size of yarn you have?
@LavenaPerry2 жыл бұрын
To make the ruffle wider, you would complete more rows before doing your cast off stitches. So just knit until it reaches the desired length of the ruffle, and then do your cast off row. If you don’t want to to be so tightly gathered (a looser ruffle), decrease the number of cast off stitches you make on the cast off row. Hope that helps.
