Baba Onilu thanks for the information, hopefully we will soon play all three SHEKERE together one day soon as a family, things are rapidly changing in the world today and more and more playing traditional DRUMS and various percussion in family's are becoming rare as the years go by,it can seem like a struggle at times',but we must still try our best to make it happen. "The Straight Stick" Chief Yagbe Awolowo Onilu, My Friend, My Brother, My Mentor and indeed Master of many disciplines. You have been an inspiration to me and to many whom have crossed your path. Although it is only a fragment of the many secrets that you possess, this music/video is truly a blessing to me. The world needs to see and hear more of your work. Thank You for your unwavering energy and for breaking me down when proper instruction was necessary. “The best way to show that a stick is crooked is not to argue about it or to spend time denouncing it, but to lay a straight stick alongside it” D.L. My paternal family are from Nigeria. They're credited with the invention of the Shekere. They Shekere is more than a musical instrument to us; it's a deity.
