Can anyone else picture Kiara laughing like Scratch from Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog? (If you know what I’m talking about, then I bet you can picture it too).

What people commonly refer to as "bullet" like what Kiara and this video says is what is technically known as a cartridge or colloquially a round. It houses the bullet (the projectile itself), a propellant (gunpowder aka black powder or cordite aka smokeless, usually the latter) and the primer (the igniter). These three components are housed in a case with a rim at the bottom to hold and eject the cartridge once expended. Bonus fact: Blank rounds are cartridges that DON'T have a bullet in them, just the propellant and the primer. Dummy rounds are cartridges that don't have a propellant and an active primer, rendering it completely inert. Cap guns are loaded with these small percussion caps which are essentially just primers the toy gun strikes to create a mini-explosion to simulate gunfire and smoke.

The only guns that can refire ammo completely without any processing would be rail guns, and only if the bullet isn't deformed too much. That said, railguns have their own problems 😄

She couldn’t use it because the difference in firearm type and caliber. Ammo can be reused.

Here is a straight forward explanation: A Cartridge is comprised of Four things: Bullet Casing Primer And Powder. When you insert a cartridge into an appropriately chambered gun that can use it, and fire it: The Primer is struck by the firing pin and causes the powder to detonate. This causes the powder to turn into a gas and expand with immense pressurse and pushes the bullet out. When you are done, you are left with an empty Casing which can be used again if you clean it and put more powder, a new primer, and a new bullet in it. But the casing itself is mostly useless and would need to be refurbished as mentioned above. Bullets can also be reused if you can find them, but you will likely have to smelt them and reform them into new bullets. The primer cannot be reused or the powder, they are both done once used. I hope that is easy to follow. Have a fantastic day and I hope you continue to learn new things in a fun but safe manner!

A bullet has the brass part called a case that has a piece on the bottom called a “primer”, the case also holds the gun powder inside of it, and at the top of the case is the bullet part that actually gets shot out of the gun. Operation: 1. The primer gets struck with a piece of metal called a “striker” when you pull the trigger. 2. The primer has a TINY explosion and that TINY explosion lights the “gunpowder” that’s in the “case”. 3. The “gunpowder” burns and, because the case is closed because of the “bullet” in the front end of the “case”, pressure gets built up. 4. That pressure that’s building up so much that it finally launches the “bullet” out of the gun. 5. Now that that “bullet” has been shot the primer has been used up, there’s no more gun powder inside the case, AND there’s no bullet to be shot out of the gun anymore. 6. SO if you want to use the “case” again you can but you would have to replace the primer, the gunpowder, and the bullet.

There is a theoretical design for a coilgun which can use any chunk of material that will fit in the barrel as a bullet (though metal is of course easiest for the magnets to grip), even spent rounds. But it would be easier just to use old-fashioned muzzle loaders, which can use spent rounds again, as the gunpowder is outside the bullet-as long as the spent bullet still fits inside the barrel, it will work. Unfortunately, all modern firearms are breech-loaders, and all modern rounds have internal gunpowder reservoirs, so none of them would work, as they get forcibly disassembled, if not deformed, during the act of shooting.

I know this is light hearted and it's cute. Fair enough. The other side of the coin is when people in the United States who legitimately believe no one should be allowed to own firearms, start talking and this is their same level of knowledge. That shit just blows my mind.
