This is purely my opinion and just like butt holes everyone has one and not to insult. The double sided tape is there for two reasons, a, to lessen the chances of putting to much stress on the four ecs mounting brackets. B, is also designed to be used to dampen impact and shock when landing. As for cutting the receiver and servo box in half it now means when jumping and landing you now only have two screws to hold the servo in place. And when steering the heavy wheels and tires against the stiff servo saver will be placing a lot of pressure on the two screws that are holding the servo and half box to the chassis.

It’s cut like that if it goes through customs. I’m in Canada and mine came from New York from Fearless RC and the box was cut like yours. Customs opens the box up to check for anything that’s not supposed to be there.

Now those are my favorite style skid plates. I have three X-maxx's and I have had them for about 5 years. All three of them have the stainless steel skid plates. I bought the first one and I built the other two from the ground up part by part and customized them the way I wanted them.
