My grandmother always told us to eat slowly and to chew the food in our mouth until it was like a porridge before swallowing. That was way back in the 1950s. I still think of her when I eat. Thank you for the information.

Thank you for the comment. That is interesting about your grandmother's eating tip. Most people eat fast due to their busy lifestyle. They are trying to eat fast to move on to their next task. Reminding people to eat slowly helps. We will have another video soon on how to eat really slowly.

Dear Dr. Rajeswaran, Thank you very much for the insightful content you have shared. As a general practitioner in Malaysia at Poliklinik Optimal Health, I have a special interest in preventive health, lifestyle medicine, and health coaching. Occasionally, I encounter challenges when initiating discussions about weight-related topics, especially when patients present with other chief complaints. In such cases, I seek their permission to address any weight-related issues if they are pertinent to their primary concern. I believe it is crucial to approach these conversations diplomatically and without judgment. To this end, I employ motivational interviewing techniques when addressing obesity. Thank you again for your valuable insights.

Doctor, you are a genius. My mind was on that very subject. My husband was on the night shift, which meant, that as soon as my feet hit the floor, in the morning, I was on the go. Breakfast, get kid's lunches packed, and get them off to school, put laundry in washer, feed the dog, put coffee on before husband gets up gets up, make his lunch, and start our dinner, and I always had to eat fast. Since he retired, I found myself eating fast, and decided that, it became a bad habit. Now, I eat more slowly, and less. Definitely my gut is happier, and I have totally stopped eating foods that are high in oxalates or too much protein. My kidney are thanking me.

I quit working out every time Ramathan comes around because I think to myself, what’s the point if I don’t have the time in the day to consume enough protein/ other necessary nutrients ? .. I can’t cram a balanced fast breaking meal/ protein shakes before going to bed ( I never bother wake up for suhur / dawn meal because I start work 6am )

You said two meals were recommended between sundown and sunrise. This isn't correct as suhoor time ends when dawn begins, not sunrise. Like so more can see this correction. Thanks

Ramadan isn't about losing weight! Ramadan is a holy month. Anyone can step away from eating any day but we fast to remember the poor and the less fortunate. But I guess weight loss is a factor and a result!

Originally stomach should be the size of your fist. But those who overeats will have a bigger stomach due to constant stretching of the stomach. By eating less your stomach will gradually shrink.
