Used to fly in s92 to go to work offshore in North Sea,lovely vid and model 🙌

Still too high on your change rate in the Castle. put it at 1 and it won't spool up so fast from idle to flight RPM. Sounds great and looks great in the air!!!
@bwellmaker2342 ай бұрын
JestRR, Made an adjustment down to 3 for a few flights this weekend. It looked much better without the hard hit as seen in the video.

Those trike gears can be tricky!
@bwellmaker2342 ай бұрын
Yes they can. I have been flying tricycle gear on helis for years. I also have a couple of tail draggers. This was a case of "dumb thumbs" as I usually have no issues. Good thing I saved it. Thanks for the comment,

@@bwellmaker234 Had a 800 size Align with custom Mi-24 Hind (Red Dawn) that never got the retracts right, but happily never bowed to toss it like a salad. But like a dummy, night flew into power line.

what are you running for the ESC for that spool up? clutched?
@bwellmaker2342 ай бұрын
JestRR, I am running a 160 Castle and it is clutched. The clutch was a bit tight on initial install. After some runs it has loosened up a bit. I do not recall the spool-up and change rate settings on the ESC but will check this evening when I down load the data from the flights. B
@JestRR2 ай бұрын
@@bwellmaker234 thank you sir! That makes sense if the clutch is tight. But your change rate from idle to flight RPM I would say is a little fast. On the Sky Crane, the change rate I have is at 1 or 0. Can’t remember exactly. But it’s a slower ramp up than what you had there.
@bwellmaker2342 ай бұрын
@@JestRR I agree it spools too fast from idle to flight idle. This is an item on my "To Do List" along with a bunch of other things after these rounds of flights. Thanks for reaching out, B

love it, but have you thought of using helical gears for noise reduction?
@bwellmaker2345 ай бұрын
The main gear and pinion are helical gears. There is a Vario clutch installed that drives the lay shaft gear and one way bearing hub. I am not aware of a clutch assembly that is off the shelf that uses a helical cut gear. These mechanics in general are pretty quiet but certainly helical gears would help.
