lower your jaw. similar to getting low notes on Bb or bass. spend some time doing long tones down in that lower register. make sure you are taking in more mouthpiece too having your mouth close where the reed meets the mpc

Do you know why when I play from low a to e it will play the note that plays when you press the octave key but slightly in the background? I also have trouble starting a note because it will squeak but I just switched from regular clarinet
@jacksondecanioАй бұрын
For your first question, you are getting the overtone coming through on those low notes, this is a common issue I see with a lot of people when starting on bass clarinet/clarinet and trying to play low. This may seem odd, but try to lower the back of your throat when you are down lower along with loosening your embouchure. As for the starting notes squeaking, that is all in your embouchure. Usually that one is caused by either blowing too much, being too far on the mouthpiece, or being to tense or tight. Hope this helps but if you have any more questions let me know. :))

Wait im confused... i saw a comment and u said that it was a contra alto and that piece is in contrabass. Did you have to transcribe this piece because contra alto is eb and contrabass is bb. or did you just play how it was written.
@jacksondecanioАй бұрын
The original piece in the score is written for contrabass, which is what my director originally sent to me, but I only have a contralto and so I transposed Bb to Eb, but on my computer I only had the Bb part saved to use in the video cause I deleted the transposition.
