Nice song suggestions and demonstrations but the tabs are basically wrong
@BanjoSkillsКүн бұрын
Hey there, the versions I'm demonstrating in the video are the exact same you'll find in the tabs. Is there something in the tabs you were having trouble with that I can help with?
@b_wovenКүн бұрын
@@BanjoSkills the second line in Wtcbu has a wrong tab for the C chord. Tried to learn the songs off them but the timing was all wrong. A lot of the hammers should be grace notes not quavers. The sheet for Btcd could have had chords above their sections. My main problem was trying to learn the songs from the tabs, which was misleading. When you play them you're naturally doing the grace hammers but as a banjo beginner I feel I was misdirected. Also not a fan of being auto subscribed. Hope this feedback is helpful, your videos are x

Hello Jack. Many Thanks for the Advice. I suffer with Acute Benign Tremor, Wobbly Hands, so any advice helps. STP.
@BanjoSkillsКүн бұрын
Please let me know if this is useful for you then! I'm not sure how that would affect your playing. I woudl imagine maybe trying to concentrate more of the movement to your arm would help, but I'm not really sure!
@STP19Күн бұрын
@@BanjoSkills Yes. Everything you generate is of great use.. If you consider your arm is pivotal from the arm rest, the 'wobble' is at its worst at the finger tip. This can generate miss plucking, having said that, if the right chord structure is adopted the sound can be cool. STP

Hi Jack, I’ve been trying to tune my relatively new Gold Tone to double C tuning (to learn Sally in the Garden) but the B string won’t stay in C, ie it keeps going flat. Should I just persevere and keeping tuning it up or do you think might there be something wrong with it? Thank you! PS I tried to send you a message on your patreon site but it didn’t work.
@BanjoSkills4 күн бұрын
Hey Amanda, most of the time this is happening because your string is slipping in the tuner because it's not secured there quite right. Or it can even happen if they're very old. I've never done a string changing video because Tom Collins did the perfect string change video 🤣 I still refer to it. I would give it a watch at kzbin.info/www/bejne/iWGogomYZadpq6c and try changing your strings and see if that solves the issue. And thanks for letting me know about the patreon. I just sent you a message directly on there to see if we can get it to work.
@amandasanders11414 күн бұрын
@@BanjoSkills Thanks Jack! I only bought my banjo a month or so ago so the strings are also new. I’ll have a look at Tom Collins and try removing and re fitting the same string. 🤞🏻 🙂

My first banjo was a cheap Kay, back around 1966. It sound cheap but the worst part was that the action was terrible and I didn't know that could be fixed. I switched to guitar for a few years but banjo kept calling to me to I got an old Vega with a 5-string conversion neck that played easily and sounded like a real banjo. Still pickin' now. :-) I guess the point is that setup can make or break even a cheap instrument.
@BanjoSkills11 күн бұрын
Yes, great point!! A good setup can even make a bad instrument a lot better to play. Worth taking it to someone who knows what they're doing.

that HM-100 is really nice! I've been starting to get that itch for a new banjo. There's a shop here the UK i've been wanting to check out called Eagle Music Shop that has a huge selection of Deering and Pisgah banjos. I bought the vega sight unseen because of Covid but woudl love to visit a showroom and try out a bunch of different ones.
