looks like the set had 66 or 75 cards. OPC printed on 132 card set. Likely some cards would only appear once. Other cards should appear 3 or 4 times. I used to live about 1 km where the cards were printed. I believe around 1988. OPC moved to another location. Good times dumpster diving for uncut card sheets. OPC still prints hockey cards. Or someone is still using the OPC name to print hockey cards. Not sure if they use the OPC name to print anything else.

Greed and insane prices... the hobby is dead, these companies ALWAYS kill it.

Pokémon cards are now having issues too. It's been discovered that handheld wire detectors (which builders use to find wires behind walls) can be used to show how much metal/foil is in a pack, thereby determining which packs have ultra rares, full arts and gold cards. So unscrupulous retailers, sellers and dealers are using this technique to keep the rare packs and sell the rest.

Has this been an issue for Nascar panini relic cards too?

Great video, as always! I personally have mixed feelings with relic cards. On one hand I think it’s awesome that you can get pieces of the ring mat from Wrestlemania that has a tangible connection to a historic event, but on the other hand a generic piece of shirt that a wrestler may have only wore for a few seconds for the purpose of cutting up and selling is cards is pretty shambolic. For me, the absolute key part of a relic card is that you can go back and WATCH where the relic was worn / used. For example the Topps Fully Loaded set that had pieces of a table and referenced the event that the table was used.

Absolutely idiotic video. It literally says on the back of the cards "..The enclosed authentic memorabilia is not from any specific game or event." Meaning they just bought some jerseys and cut them up. 99.9% of relics and patch cards have that wording now days. Only someone with ZERO knowledge of the hobby would assume it was game used or worn by the athlete.

For price of some of these relic cards, you can just save up your money and buy a whole game used jersey from the team of your favorite player. That’s what I have decided to do. Who wants a piece of something when you can easily just get the whole thing?

Relics worth maybe $1 nowadays

None of these cards have actual clothing from any sport. It's all just being cut from sheets of cloth purchased from Walmart

I once collected the entire NBA 2002-03 Nameplates patch set. It's a very difficult and expensive set. One thing I always found strange however was the Allen Iverson I had. All others I'd ever seen over the years had his normal Sixers patch swatch. Well, the one I had looked like an Orlando Magic patch. It has black, blue and silver. It sucked because I knew that something was right from that point on. Oh and it couldn't have been from the All-Star game as the East's colors from that previous season were certainly not that. If I remember correctly, their jerseys looked more like a Phoenix Suns colors.

From a basketball perspective I thought this was common knowledge, and people treat non guaranteed jerseys as nothing special. Absolutely shit by the company for doing it in the first place though. I am unsure of Topps will be any better when they take the basketball contract back over though

They haven't used game used for quite some time. The 2020 covid crew/group breakers were buying anything and everything at 4x the price. They had no reason to try hard.

Had some feedback on being able to use an iron or hair straighteners to make the glue malleable to open and then seal again. Don't know how to spot that, maybe the foil is more wavey after that process?
