I have seen a photo of Cadgwith Cove in a 1961 National Geographic magazine, and it looks very much the same today. Beautiful.

Very impressed with the number of fishing boats there serving a small community, fishing must be quite good, I know of places on the North Coast much bigger which have virtually lost their fishing fleet.

Love the old Cadgwith. Went recently there and into the 'fresh fish shop '. Asked what they had and they had spider Crab sandwiches. Asked what fish they had , to be told with a smile " don't sell fish my 'ansom " . Why don't you have a Crab sandwich ? . Found lots of fresh fish for sale in Tesco's in Helston. 😢

No idea why they are wearing kilts but there is some irony in the fact that the modern kilt was invented by an Englishman.
@seanfinlay68226 ай бұрын
I think you’ll find that they are Cornish kilts.
@Wotsitorlabart6 ай бұрын
@@seanfinlay6822 Historically did the Cornish wear kilts? Or is this some kind of 'Celtic Brotherhood' affectation?
@JustinDunstan6 ай бұрын
@@Wotsitorlabart There is a some evidence. A woodcarving in Altarnun church estimated to be around 16th century interpreted as a man in a kilt. The earliest written evidence is from around 1900 but also some stories that the Duke of Cornwall Light Infantry wore black kilts but there is no firm evidence on that.
@Wotsitorlabart6 ай бұрын
@@JustinDunstan I've had a look images of the late medieval Altarnun carvings which show a bagpiper. Now I'm no expert on men's clothing of the Middle Ages but look up 'cotehardie' and you will find something that looks very much like our Alternun piper's 'kilt'. Also, the modern kilt is an 18th century development making it even more unlikely our piper was wearing one. As I said - a 20th century Celtic Brotherhood affectation.
@Wotsitorlabart6 ай бұрын
@@JustinDunstan Take a look at the late medieval Altarnun church carving of a bagpiper and then search 'cotehardie' - notice any similarities? And the modern kilt was only developed during the 18th century - so on that basic level trying to link the Cornish wood carving with the Scottish kilt is a nonsense. And, why would the DofCLI be wearing kilts? All this is clearly a 20th century attempt to create some kind of spurious link to a mythical 'Celtic' past.
