Nothing wrong, per se. But they can be taught without violating the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment of the Constitution. More to the point, if Christians can mandate the teaching of their principles in public schools then Muslims can demand that their principles be represented as well. For example, I suspect you would not be comfortable if your child or grandchild was taught the principles of Islam, which include the doctrine of jihad, which is the act of promoting Islam, usually through war, against unbelievers (infidels), referred to as "those who resist Islam."

@chrisikaris5891
@chrisikaris5891 Күн бұрын
@tonimartin4828 FYI, Islam is the fastest growing religion in the USA, mainly due to Muslim immigration to the USA and high birth rates among Muslim immigrants. Like it or not, the USA is, even from early times, a religiously diverse country with hundreds, perhaps thousands, of different faiths, and growing more diverse every year. The point of the Establishment clause of the First Amendment is that it forbids the government from favoring one religion over another. If any religious group is given the right to post religious messages or texts in school classrooms then any other, or many other, religious groups or denominations can do likewise. So if you want a particular religious text you like in classrooms, then you should not be surprised to see other texts from other religions introduced, including ones you might not like. P. S. "Under God", as well as "In God We Trust", do not refer to the god of Christianity or any other particular religion. When "God" was inserted in to the Pledge of Allegiance and on money in 1956, it was merely done to contrast the USA with the officially atheist Soviet Union.

When it comes to the three Abrahamic books, Old Testament, New Testament, and the Quran, despite some of the graphic writings, I wouldn't be against banning them in schools, even Elementary school. However, I am against mandating that certain aspects of the bible be mandated for display. Again, there's a big difference between allowing access towards these religious books and even teaching how they play a part in both history and current affairs, versus mandating that they be displayed as if to imply that these commandments supercede both the constitution and or other religious beliefs.

I think it shouldn't be looked at as religion being in the school and more what's being displayed and what message it conveys, most of the 10 commandments you could view as entirely removed from a religious mentality and still benefit a great deal from them as a person which is what I hope the school is going for.

@remowilliams7569 that may be your belief, but it's not the belief of the 2 billion Muslims in the world. And keep in mind that the Simularities of the Quran and the Old and New Testament is probably close to 90%. Pretty much all the same prophets are in the Quran including Moses along with mentioning the 10 commandments. The only difference is slight differences in idealogy, Jew's give Bible precedence, Christians give Jesus precedence, and Muslims give God precedence over the writings and Jesus. However all are inherently entwined. Regardless of all that, this mandate is still a fundamental clash with the idealogy behind the constitution.

Edit: I would also like to say this, if the Ten Commandments are such a bad thing to have in a classroom, then why are LGBTQ flags and extremely sexual childrens books displayed in schools too. If anything there shouldnt be any political, moral, ethical, racial, religious, and sex/gender flags, doctrines or slogans in a school and classroom. You are missing the bigger picture here. Plus a state government and its voters have the right to vote on what they want; the federal government should not get to decide (as orginally intended by America's founding fathers).
