Thank you for sharing this useful kind of video, very appreciated! From what I watch, it seems to have same responsiveness of the LG27GL850 that I had some months ago. Did you find out some issues or have some warnings about this monitor? (except for BLB and IPS glow that can affect every IPS panel). I'm thinking of replacing my Omen 27i...
@reinulf54744 жыл бұрын
It's a good monitor, no noises, solid performance. The colors are not exactly what I like but they can be adjusted to be ok. I don't like how the Black Level adjustment makes the image quality worse, for example you notice that text becomes affected. The build and adjustability of the stand is great. I feel a little eye fatigue and nausea using this monitor though. Maybe I'm imagining things but it somehow doens't feel relaxed and all well. I imagine that HP might be better at tuning the colors of the LG Panel and their Black EQ is probably better (because I know that the Black EQ on the HP x27i definitely is better than on this Dell). This Dell has darker edges on the left and right and it's quite noticable, maybe your HP is better there.
@pakodks4 жыл бұрын
@@reinulf5474 I had LG 27GL850 (3 units), Omen 27i and Benq ex2780q. The first two models are pretty similar overall in terms of colours and responsiveness. The HP has much more build quality, but both of them made some popping noises during warm up and cool down (thermal side effect). I didn't like the Benq due to some ghosting tails in quick transitions but it has better contrast and didn't make any noise. Now I have the HP, but those noises get me crazy. I would try the Dell (it might have better thermal design) but I'm worried about the dark edges you mentioned...
@pakodks4 жыл бұрын
@@reinulf5474 when you say "no noises", which kind of noise are you referring to? Did you have issues with other monitors?
@reinulf54744 жыл бұрын
@@pakodks there are no popping or creaking sounds during warmup and cooldown and there's no high pitched noises or coil whine noises. Any electric device can produce noises and yes, I once had a Monitor that constantly made hissing noises and got that replaced by the same model but it was silent.
@reinulf54744 жыл бұрын
@@pakodks then I'd recommend you this Dell as it is silent or the HP x27i which is also silent, has deeper blacks than the Dell/LG/HP Omen 27i. The x27i is not just as fast as the LG Panel but it's very close and much faster than the BenQ. The build quality is hit or miss on the x27i though and some of them have less than great color uniformity (one part of the screen might look more yellowish or blueish). What the Dell has are those noticeably darker sides of the screen. It's actually not just slight but for example if you have desktop icons, the ones on the sides look dull. Especially noticeable if you have a different monitor next to it which shows its side icons perfectly bright and clear

Thank you for uploading :). Now I wish I could find proof in what panel this monitor is really using. People say it's the nano ips from LG but many sources point to a new panel by au optronics.
@reinulf6564 жыл бұрын
Judging from the rather Grey blacks I am quite sure it's the LG. This was apparently also proven by checking the Panel Code in a German online community. What also makes me believe it's LG is the way the colors are calibrated. I had the same kind of colors on the L227 10 years ago, which also had a wide gamut panel.

So far what's your impressions about the S2721DGF? Colors, build quality? Can you give us some feedback about it? Thanks!
@reinulf6564 жыл бұрын
Build quality is great, the stand is excellent and the height adjustment has a large range. Color uniformity is great, but the sides on the left and right have a vignette, they are somewhat darker than the center. This is especially on the right side. Good colors are not easy to be set. Whatever you do, don't install the Dell Driver as then all the colors are completely exaggerated and unusable. Without using custom ICC profiles it's impossible to set the colors to be as good as on the HP. They have a different character. I wasn't exactly impressed by the Dark Level adjustment, as it introduces an exaggerated contrast to the image. If you forget to turn that off, text looks weirdly artifacted. It's a personal decision but I actually prefer the HP, although the build quality is far worse and color uniformity is hit or miss. We have a long discussion on the German site mydealz.

All monitors that use this panel type ( It's an LG panel, same as the GL850) has horrible overshoot on the max overdrive settings, the only reason it really exists is to make the claim of it being a 1ms monitor true. The medium setting is what you want and you should also make sure you are using a dp 1.4 cable if you want the proper 165hz experience. Ty for the video btw.
