I always find myself in situations where my skills/experience is not valued & I can't find jobs let alone a well paying job that will allow me to actually live my life, move out, etc. I'm the same age as you & it's getting depressing. Can you talk about the process you went thru to get your current job, how hard was it for you, etc.?

Many among the younger generations never grew up. They were so sheltered, so taken care of that they never really learned how to do it on their own. Finding a spouse, having a family were both maturing things for me. They made the gravity of my life greater. I was no longer just living my life for myself but now for my wife and then for my children. Humans are anti-fragile. We only become as resilient as the hardship we face. Generations which went through extreme suffering, those from world wars or settlers of new nations, were much much much more capable than us who basically sit around all day. We must voluntarily seek out hardship in order to give us strength in life and ultimately to give our lives meaning. The hardship we seek out must be worthy of our sacrifice. Parenting is a worthy sacrifice of your time, energy, love. Its so beautiful to look into my 3 year old daughters eyes or to teach my 1 year old son how to speak or crawl. I am 30 YO so younger than this lady but can say from experience that many in my generation were failed by our parents and institutions designed to raise us. They infantilized us, protected us from conflict and suffering and as a result, we became soft, fragile, incapable of navigating the world confidently. Life is a process of overcoming. Of becoming.

If someone says it's selfish not to have kids, I immediately think, is wanting to have kids less selfish? Why do people want kids? Because THEY want them, because THEY want to have a bigger family/small copies of themselves and THEY want to have some support when they are older. The kid brought to this world has nothing to say. How does it make it less selfish than not having kids? Just because they sacrifice more to have what THEY want? Not really. Just live and let others live.

Daria, I’m a 30 year old dude, i almost started crying watching after discovering and watching your videos today. I moved to London 2 years ago for a dream job as a project manager, went through the whole honeymoon period of a new life, experienced loneliness, struggled to socialise in the city, developed anxiety as a social person and went through depression. I’m currently going through therapy and slowly getting things back up and I’m glad you’re figuring out stuff as well again from step one. I’m just glad to be able to not feel alone with my experiences. I thought I was alone.

You are definitely not alone ! It’s hard when your dreams are met with the reality. I was so excited for the new life that I thought I will have and then it all came crashing down. But that’s life eh, now onto better and bigger things !!

Motivating video! I’m going to travel soon and will inevitably go through a similar process, so I’ll probably rewatch this after my trip 😅 I’ve always experienced jet lag. It even throws me off when the clocks change (go forward or back an hour). I try to forget what the old time zone was and just live my life in the new one. Sounds like you’re already doing that, though! Saw the ketchup chips and was like “HAH I recognize those!” (I’m from Canada)
