You seem like such a genuine person and this was a beautiful window into what the PCT gives and takes. Wow, appreciated. ❤ from Finland (our national parks are great btw)

I wish I had found hiking sooner😢. I was busy riding a road bicycle on the road next to cars…..3 mos. ago I just realized it was a stupid dangerous sport. lol now I’m in love with hiking, but I’m 65 years old….. good for you for not imploding over your break up ..be in love with yourself🎉🎉🎉

The animations really take this to the next level. What a superb video! "I could be a free, grubby wanderer without it impacting this facade I had built for society." That is a damn powerful sentence.

What a great film. Captures the true trail. Not the miles or the views, but the people, and the way the trail changes you that you never dreamed of. Thirty-four years later I am still Lao Tzu, 1990. You are JJ Bean for life.

I just wanted you to know that I’ve always dreamed of doing one of the major thru hikes. I’m on the PCT right now brining trail magic to some SOBO PCTers, as I test my aging body against the heat and climbs of the SoCal desert. I am registered for starting the full PCT next year despite being from far north, and your video was the first to inspire me to say “It’s not too late to try”. Thank You for creating this.

i think you encapsulated a feeling I've had since graduating college...im tired of the facade i need to put up in society. there's freedom out there, freedom from which drags my soul down. i need to start backpacking. thank you jj bean

You left one relationship and was lost. And surprisingly enough as soon as you became inseparable and enmeshed with someone else, you felt like you were happy. 😂 Sounds like you really figured it out. lol

I wish I’d realized how badly I want to hike the PCT before I’d had a baby. I have a one year old now and I don’t see how I could spend this much time away from her at this age. I’ll have to wait years til I can give it a go 😢

Love your video, it's very nice and genuinly done. By the way: it's not about the journey either, it's about the company! (well, in my experience it is)

It somehow took me nearly a year to find this, but WELL DONE! Attempted in 2022, but it felt more like a section hike kind of year when I reached Acton. Went back last year and started over, flip flopping all around due to snow and hiking 1500ish miles. Not hiking again this year is a struggle. Thanks for helping me relive so many good memories. And man, those trail cries hit hard some days, but so worth it.

I’m a fellow class of 2022 member who hiked a bit with the sea creatures in California. Even though I was able to get to Canada before the closing, I was so set on getting every mile that I missed out on many of the beautiful memories that you captured in this amazing video. Truly it is about the journey and the people you meet. Send my regards to seaweed and sea biscuit if you still talk to them. -smokestack, class of 2022

To see the world, things dangerous to come to, to see behind walls, draw closer, to find each other, and to feel. That is the purpose of life. What a great film, showing us the quintessence of life

Did a thru hike of the PCT in 21 and 22. only now do i realize that it is truly about the journey. Two years since my last start and I am still absorbing the lessons. great video. But I immediately check out of this video once you introduced politics. The trail provides but the trail should also be neutral.
