This is sooo sick!!! I need to go here one day! Also sooo inspired by your sketchbook! Also, at museums I love to sketch objects like you were doing and also love to sketch people viewing the art :) I love that they stay still enough looking at the art for me to draw them hehe

Such an amazing selection of graphic novels! I am definitely going to check out that comic shop you mentioned in Sacramento, not too far from me. I love Leanne Shapton's illustrations, I recently bought two other books by her, "Sunday Night Movies" and "Was She Pretty?".

no surprise here ahaha, but I also love the graphic novels from Drawn and Quarterly! I got to go their stores when I was visiting Montreal, and I picked up Let's Not Talk Anymore by Pix Made Objects. I think you'd love it, it's all painted and has such nice textures, and is a very nuanced, sort-of autobiographical story!

Beautiful gratitude journal, and I totally agree that the sketches and other images make it feel even more interesting. 6:10 I'm using an A5 Midori notebook this year as a "daily journal" for thoughts and sketches, and yes, my kitty wants to tear it and its string bookmarks to ribbons, so I hide it in a box when he's not napping.😅 The paper is sooo nice!

Stalogy does not use Tomoe River paper, but it is great, soft thin paper.

Great video! I will definitely be checking out Julie Doucet, thanks for the recommendation. Some graphic novels / artists I think you would like the art style of: My Favorite Thing is Monsters by Emil Ferris. I was a bit disappointed with the story in Volume 2, but the art is stunning - it's all done in biro, like the main character's diary, and there are lots of recreations of art from the Art Institution of Chicago and retro pulp horror magazines. Julie Delporte - her coloured pencil art is so beautiful Lisa Hanawalt - also published by D&Q, and I love her style

I actually have The Woman's Work by Delporte! I agree, I love her colored pencil and the sketchbook page format in that book. I will be checking out Lisa Hanawalt! I never watched Bojack Horseman, so I feel like that kind of kept me from exploring her other work. but her style is super cool, so I'd probably love her books! thank you!!

ohhh such a good idea of having a work book with all your inspiration. I was just thinking the other day how I have all these forgotten photos on my phone from when I've gone to an exhibit, and so I started putting them into their own folder on my phone, but I much prefer the idea of having some physical I can use as a reference! I'm excited now to do it!

Ah, I love your videos! I also am a notebooks addict and have been one my whole life and must be using several notebooks at all times. I use what you use as well, but also have watercolor sketchbook that’s heavyweight paper so I can layer. I also have morning pages journal and that is one of my favorite places for idea dumps as well.

making comics is such a great goal! and manageable I think because you can take it one panel at a time, and it's basically however much work you decide. you've got this! (also comics are so cool and I'd like to make more of them as well)

Hiiii! I commented on one of your vids a little while ago I said I was getting a sewing machine for Christmas and so far it has been the time of my life :) I’ve been learning sooo much. I made 2 tote bags and am working on my first shirt. I think a goal I have is to make part of my birthday outfit. Whether it’s fun pants or a dress or nice fun shirt! Also- I cross stitch and have been tracking my goals in the app Notion. There’s def a learning curve but it’s been so awesome to see the progress I’ve made already! ❤❤
