@CKAMERICA this year my catches have been on my Predator Blues and new test lure. Digger 360 has been slaying the coyotes this year for customers also and Highway 90 Roadkill Lure. Deadly Highway 71 is a great bait for them colder months as it's a loud bait.

Not saying you are doing it wrong, just some perhaps unwanted advice- You seem to be getting too many misses, digging, close calls. IMO, take it for whats its' worth, is that the main reason you are getting this, is your patterns are too small, esp for coyotes. The animals are standing at the side, not wanting to step on that cookie cutter type pattern. Extend your patterns out- just scattering loose dirt to extend the pattern is fine. That way, the animals are stepping on soft, disturbed dirt before they come to the pattern. I gather you use peat- don't skimp on it, peat esp you want scattered around the set and pattern. Good luck.

@@PAtrappingNoutdoors they are Duke 550 but not anywhere near 5# lol about 2#
@PAtrappingNoutdoors12 күн бұрын
@blakeleystrapping2860 I would check them all mine was atleast 3-4+ I had to bend the dog slightly really only way to adjust pan tension on them between that and the wide gap on the offset missing toe catches they did not work well for trapping Raccoon for me I did grind some off most them to make the offset less also
@blakeleystrapping286012 күн бұрын
@PAtrappingNoutdoors ya I'm not really wanting to catch the raccoons lol I have caught some in them already. I was thinking about making the pan tension heavier actually. This dozen I got are pretty low

@blakeleystrapping286013 күн бұрын
@walterclark854 ya these are basically Step down sets. All are about 4" below ground lever. The cow i was watching yesterday was pressing his nose all around my set. Probably not stepping on the just their nose I think. Idk though lol I have done pretty good on this property by means I only have a handful of traps set

That's a coyote. I have a Coy/ Shepherd mix and he is a TERRIBLE pet. His German Shepherd side is amazing especially inside but his Coyote side is stubborn, high prey drive and can NOT be trained to do simple commands. I rescued him as a pup not knowing what he was mixed with. I am his last hope. NOBODY would put up with his nasty bite and sneaky behavior. Some days I almost want to give up but I can't now. 😢

I try not to set around cattle, but if you have to, setting deeper will help. Heap the dirt up on the sides to make it appear deeper as well! They won't step in there, but their tongue will find its way down there sometimes ....... not good! 🙄
