Great opinions! Well said Pat. I was part of the Team Effort that fought against the possibility of an International Airport in Irvine at the Former El Toro Marine Base. I spoke at the City Hall amongst others. We did picketing also. It is important to stand up for what you believe at any age. In one of my law classes at Irvine Valley College we discussed about the then proposed ideas including about the Seniors all around. So, I included that in my speaking up at the City Hall. I mentioned about how bad it would be for the students with trying to learn in school. I also mentioned about how bad it would be for the Senior Citizens in the community especially because many Seniors have trouble sleeping. The airport was to be a 24/7 airport. They projected an estimate of 58 flights an hour at full capacity. That would be about 80,000 tons?per day of pollution per day dumping into the air and into our lungs, which is horrible for Asthmatics &/or anyone else especially if they have compromised lung issues. Having said that, we know how bad the exhaust can be with big rigs. As Pat said, her and others would be even more so at risk of their conditions possibly getting worse in lieu of added vehicles of employees that would be working there & probably ie: fork lifts for distribution inside and outside of the proposed warehouse(s)and that of the big rigs. Plus I was also wondering if that company would also be having shipments being delivered to the airport which would obviously increase the flights near by creating more toxic air. If the warehouse(s) would employ workers for 3 shifts, that in itself be such a toxic environment, noise volume increased in the neighborhood especially if flights 24/7 came into fruition down the line. The decipal point of noise would be extremely hazardous to the Seniors. Not only that, I am willing to bet that people also living in newer housing communities in that general vacinity would upset about that & added damage to their health, their children's learning would be affected, and that of any Seniors in those communities also. Another elephant in the room is what all of that pollution may do to them in the long run. Besides Asthma, etc. of course are amongst the top of the list, but what about the possibility of Cancer of any part of the body, but more so the lungs, eyes, sinuses and the 🧠 brain. As it was also mentioned about the mountains close by. The take off & landing of planes in such a relatively small area, could create flight risks. The airport may not be a issue yet, but be very careful in what you are standing up for. Today are the warehouse(s), but in time it could be having to fight against increased flights which was already stated of how bad that would be. Also as Pat stated, the influx of more traffic & pollution, but potentially more accidents as well. Then another item that needs to be addressed is what exactly will be in the building(s) and are they toxic also or not?! One thing I haven't heard is does anyone know if there are known elements of toxic plume that may already exist with the airport? What about the possibility of anything seeping into the ground & ground water with this proposed new warehouse? The former ElToro Marine Base had & maybe still does have levels of toxic plume. I assume that it does, especially because it was seeping farther and farther from the base. At that time, it already was found a few miles down into other areas. It is agreed that everyone wants to be safe in all aspects. If and when a larger earthquake strikes which obviously has a higher probability, will there be toxins in the warehouse that could cause an explosion. Keep in mind, that there is not only concern about the long overdue scenario of the San Andreas Fault Lines, but now Scientists are concerned about the fact that the Cascadia Subduction Zone may now be a bigger threat than the the San Andreas Fault Line in lieu of the swarming smaller earthquake activity. Of course everyone goes on about their business as they should be, with the exception of being mindful of the reality of what is yet to come. It isn't a matter of if, it is a matter of when. So, in closing, it is vitally important for each and everyone to be safe and healthy, not just for this life time, but for the generations to follow.

Not surprised that the money ladder leads to the city official. Hemet is a haven for druggies and criminals...why wouldn't you have a city leader that does the same. Disgusting. Perfect example of what people are really made of. It's all lip service. These warehouses will be the cherry on the Hemet. Yet businesses are closing down left and right because of theft. Can't really walk in and steal $950 worth of stuff. The roads and traffic simply won't hold up. With so many traffic lights already in Hemet and then bring in all these trucks you won't be able to get anywhere in a reasonable amount of time. These retired people don't need this right next to them...but land is cheap and officials are crooked thats how they got approved.

To be fair to the company putting up the warehouses, all the resistance is really just demands for bribes. Kind of like when a mobster tells you that it would be unfortunate if your business burned down, they've got a bunch of cityfolk telling them that it would be unfortunate if they weren't allowed to build that new warehouse wink wink. Saying those are dead trees is the least dishonest part of all of this.

I don't think you understand how city corruption works. The company wants to put up a warehouse. Its literally the most mundane type of structure yet they're getting a lot of resistance. This is because people and nonprofits are trying to fleece them for cash with the intent to approve the construction anyway. So the company is just fighting back. If you don't like construction or growth, there's plenty of green space in Detroit and more turns up every day.

This is heartbreaking to watch, but I've seen the video footage and the officers involved had no option but to shoot when Jimmy raised what looked like a gun after they asked him repeatedly to keep his hands on his head. Jimmy left the house that night with a "fake" gun. Obviously, he took it with him so that people would think it was real and not mess with him. There is no other reason for a grown man to carry a "fake" gun. The sad thing is: the people Jimmy encountered were police. They are trained to shoot when a weapon is raised. This is a tragedy for Jimmy's mother and my heart goes out to her. But, she is being misled by some manipulative people (attorneys) who are hoping to cash in on a lawsuit over Jimmy's death. Anyone who watches the video would come to the conclusion that it was JIMMY who made a huge mistake that night, not the Hemet police.

Mr. Michael your concerns are valid. I am sorry that this is happening to you. I can tell you first hand that the construction dust and noise and everything else will be horrible. Just think what we had to deal with when they did the renovations to the lakes at The Lakes of Hemet West. It too was horrible and it too had poop of ducks, geese, and fish to just name a few. It gets into everything. However, at least when it happens they will have to have inspections to ensure that things are within the current laws and will have paid for permits to do it...unlike when they did the renovations to the lakes here. You speak of chemicals and so forth in the dirt what do you think is in the dirt here at the Lakes? Concrete and construction debris that they were to dispose of properly and didn't. They just thought it would be cheaper to dig 60 foot holes in the ground and throw all that into the hole and cover it with a lake. So it will contaminate the dirt and increase the possibility of sinkholes. Lets not forget what horrible conditions the lake is in currently with the foam and algae starting to take over the lake, which also could be toxic to wildlife and humans. To top that off take a walk around the lake and you will find signs of cracking and leaking. The water has to go somewhere and after it fills the 60 foot holes underneath it where will it go? The conditions that will happen all around the Lakes and neighboring construction will decrease the home values. At least the construction next door are upfront with what will happen but the community that you live in just did what they wanted to do without considering the residents. Yet they are still charging premium rental rates. .

I'll tell you why they're building it next to a quiet senior place. Because they don't care. They care about the money. There are a lot of wide open spaces, as we know, that they could use, that are not surrounded by residential communities and they choose there, it doesn't make any sense. I support you entirely. I know there are a lot of people who want to see the work coming in, and that's great, I think that's fine. I agree. Let's update Hemet and bring more jobs to our city, but not at the expense of our residents. They need to come up with a better plan.
