Nothing left to say And all I've left to do Is run away from you She led me on, down With secrets I can't keep Close your eyes and sleep Don't wait up for me Hush now, don't you speak To me Wrapped my hurt in you And took my shelter in that pain The opiate of blame Is your broken heart, heart, your heart So now I'm all by myself As I've always felt And I'll betray my tears To anyone caught in our ruse of fools One last kiss for me, yeah One last kiss goodnight Didn't want to lose you once again Didn't want to be your friend Fulfilled a promise made of tin Crawled back to you I'm all by myself (close your eyes and sleep) As I've always felt (don't wait up for me) I'll betray myself (hush now, don't you speak) To anyone lost, anyone but you So let the sadness come again On that you can depend on me, yeah Until the bitter, bitter end of the world, yeah When God sleeps in bliss I'm all by myself As I've always felt I'll betray myself To anyone

I started listening in ‘91 with Gish, which my much too old at the time boyfriend had given me and I fell in love. 93-94 were Billy’s prime. Siamese Dream had some of the most beautiful and hard songs on it. Plus, Billy’s short hair and beautiful face didn’t hurt, especially in the first few rows.

When I first brought Siamese Dream I HATED this song, it just sounded slow, and boring - I kept skipping over it . It was only later on when I finally listened all the way through, and found out the second half. Good grief. One of my favourite songs of all time

Starting off in such a dreamy, underwater blur, only to culminate into a pure gamma ray burst that almost tears the universe in two. What a bewilderingly awesome tune. Ive seen it live more than once, even from this 94 tour. Every time it utterly floors me.

Corgan's solo is obviously epic for so many reasons - no doubt about it. Hands down a superior guitar player. But the continuation of the solo during the bridge by Iha is so, so critical and well executed every time I hear the live versions of this song. When Billy starts singing again and takes over the power chords, it's just a perfect example of everyone in the band knowing their role at any given time. Iha doesn't get the respect that he deserves!!!
@kristopherryanwatson2 жыл бұрын
yes, and of course it doesn't do any harm that Billy is a perfectionist.

YESSSS James’ part of the solo is so integral to building the climax of the song. Been saying this for years.

This is hands down the best live version of this song I have found. That moment when the song changes from a sweet, quiet little lullaby to a rage filled bomb going off is the moment the hairs all over my body stand up!

The guitar pedals and effects used on this version elevate a great song to even greater heights. Seen them do this song at different gigs but this is the tops. Perfection

Absolutely. I’d love to know the gear he used because it’s incredible. Definitely won’t ever be close to that level of talent (and I’ve been playing since I was 5 - 40 years). It’d be cool to find out which pedals, at least.
