Why did that NFL films guy, sorry I don't remember your name but I ain't looking it up right now, write a ripoff of what would you do with a drunken sailor? I know it's far too old to be copyrighted even if there was credit for whoever who wrote it to try to accredit it.

I think it was on this drive that Joe Montana pointed out John Candy up in the stands. It was an impromptu moment of comic relief for Joe’s teammates in the huddle, where they knew Montana had matters under control.

Many CFL players went there. The play style was like watching Canadian football. By amalgamation, the two leagues had covered the USA with teams, making it hard for any startup league in the future.

The throwing game is common in Canada 🇨🇦; many were old CFL players, like Cookie Gilchrist.

This is a magnificent look at what it took to get the AFL off the ground, and running to compete with the NFL. Highly recommend it.

@AgAg-yn3cv I mean, I'm being slightly facetious, but 🤷🤷🤷🤷🤷 I do think the 2 correlate. Gruden was collateral damage to the TDS.

I remember seeing a documentary about SB2 between the Raiders and Packers and listening to Lombardi screaming at his players in practice "this isn't the Chiefs this team will tear your head off if they get a chance" so even though i'm sure the Packers thought they were better top to bottom they certainly respected the Raiders and didn't take them lightly. I think it was just the 1st SB against the Chiefs where there wasn't that much respect between the teams because there was a lot of trash talking by the Chiefs.

I love Walsh...though that shot at Buddy Ryan was a bit of a low blow. He won two Super Bowls as an assistant coach (two legendary teams, the 1968 Jets and he built that 1985 Bears defense) and he was about .500 as a head coach (above .500 with Philly) he wasn't an all time great but definitely not someone just bs'ing his way through

I grew up an NFL fan and I always felt the AFL liked to take credit for so many things. Yes the AFL passed more than the NFL but stats will show you the NFL was the more efficient passing league. Initial QB's in the AFL were either NFL backups, rejects or old players. It really wasn't until the AFL developed their own QB's that the league overall developed parity with the NFL. Sid Gillman was a offensive passing pioneer, . The offense he ran in the NFL was the very same offense he ran with the LA Rams in the late 1950's in the NFL. Modern and current concepts such as the shotgun offense, zone coverages, all have NFL origins. The AFL developed great talent and teams, but talk like the AFL was somehow more inventive or more modern is not based in truth.
