First, "Indians is more offensive than 'Warriors'". Then, "The National Congress of American Indians said, 'don't do it'". I grew up on reservations and Native villages from Alaska all the way to Arizona because of my parents' work. Every single tribe was asked what they'd like to be called, and every single one said, "we're Indians", or in the case of a few from Alaska, "we're not Native Alaskans, we're Eskimos". They were very adamant about it. It wasn't until White academics started insisting that the words "Eskimo" and "Indian" were offensive, that they decided they should be mad about it. But, they still call themselves Indians amongst themselves or when there are people of different races that they're close with. It really doesn't matter what you do when dealing with people like this guy. I'd be willing to bet that there are academic papers and/or articles claiming that animal team names are racist, because they're dehumanizing. Remember that this is a business. They need things to call racist, or they lose their livelihood. The activists lose their entire identity if there isn't something to fight about. They don't want peace and equality. They don't want to solve the problem. It's reminiscent of the therapists of the last decade. If they actually helped their patients, they'd lose money. Now, their latest scam is claiming that EVERYONE needs a therapist for the rest of their lives! They don't want things to get better.

Seminole Nation is proud to be a part of Florida State University. It’s in FSU’s charter that members of Seminole Nation sit on their board, tribe members get scholarships and required curriculum for every student includes history of the tribe. It’s a symbiotic relationship that I think is very respectful. Every school that has a mascot based on a people should have curriculum about them.

Whatever happened to "Amerind"? Sure, it's a portmanteau exonym, but...seems to do a good job specifying geography and racial/ethnic macro-identity... And rolls off the tongue easily. I just want the Washington Redskins back. So do most Amerind football fans too it seems.

American Indian is the term I use,and I could not care less what they prefere to be called. First of all ,they were not original natives of Americas, they came from Asia and exterminated real natives. Indians shold be thankfull to europeans for giving them reservations. If Russia or some other savage culture had concored them, they would have nothing(just ask asian tribes in russian siberia).

Columbus was looking for a shorter route to the "Indies". In Spanish, "the Indies" is translated as "las Indias" and that's where he thought he was when he found land. Consequently he called the natives "los indios". Quoted from Columbus in his letter to King Ferdinand (translated into English): "SIR: Since I know that you will be pleased at the great victory with which Our Lord has crowned my voyage, I write this to you, from which you will learn how in thirty-three days I passed from the Canary Islands to the Indies, with the fleet which the most illustrious King and Queen, our Sovereigns, gave to me. There I found very many islands, filled with innumerable people, and I have taken possession of them all for their Highnesses, done by proclamation and with the royal standard unfurled, and no opposition was offered to me.

I had an "Iroquois" friend who said he preferred people to use Haudenosaunee when referring to him but that was only for himself. He said as a generic term he preferred "Indian" since none of the other options were very good either. For example "Native American" or "Native" had obvious problems. He felt "Indian" was good since it reminded him to be grateful, grateful that Columbus wasn't looking for Turkey.

This sounds like BS. I haven’t come across a single Native American who prefers to be called Indian. Native American makes them feel proud as the original inhabitants of the land and reminds others that they screwed the natives over. Indian reminds them as people with no identity of their own assuming others’ identity ie peole of India who they have nothing to do with.

In Mexico during the later part of the 19th century the word Indio or Indian became synonymous with culturally backwards, primitive, uneducated, dullard, as compared to European which was modern, educated, enlightened. Many people who were racially Native Americans shunned being associated with anything Indian, even though there were no Indians in Mexico they all lived in India. Native Mexicans like many Native tribes in the USA use the word "People" to describe themselves. The Odham for example means "The People." After the Mexican revolution pride in Indigenous roots and culture became more popular. There has always been an intense effort from the minority ruling white class to exterminate anything Native in Mexico. There are more Jews in the Mexican government than Natives, even though Natives number in the millions. It is an apartheid state. I reject all labels that governments or others impose on me. I name myself, or accept the names of those who I consider my family. Tribal names developed organically they were not imposed by burocrats in Washington, like they imposed the label hispanic. There is no such thing as hispanic.

Absolutely. My prenup held up. Why? Because I had a retired family court judge as my lawyer. He was well versed in family law. He made sure after the prenup was drafted she had ample time to review it with her lawyer. Her lawyer was present when she signed it, along with 2 neutral witnesses. She signed our prenup 6 months before we were married, so she could not claim she was pressured into signing it. We did go back and forth a bit on the terms, but like this lawyer points out any assets owned by each party before going in to the marriage were off the table in the event of divorce. This was important for me because I owned a business, already owned a house, and I made sure my retirement account was also off the table.

'The Pyramids look MECHANICAL in Nature' Yes they do. Ceremonial? No... I was very intrigued with Chris Dunn's work re: pyramids possible use for power generation. That is until Geoffrey Drumm came along. He's got something there. Using the pyramids for liquid/gaseous chemical reactions, I never would have guessed myself. But Geoff does a dang good job of making a case for it. Consider the motivation factor- food production. That makes sense to me, not some whack-ass burial chamber for a narcissistic ruler.
