Khmer had been colonized by Siam for more than 400 yrs before Khmer was colonized by France. Their royal families of Khmer was brought up by Siam royal families and when they returned to Khmer, they brought Siam's culture, art and food back home. King Rama 4 also designed Khmer's national costume so-called "Sumpot". Siam royal families also support their money to built those palaces and temples in Khmer. Now Khmer claim that they are originated of Siam art, culture and Thai food, they have changed their history that they are the one who built Angkor Wat. They got influenced from Thai movie which was broadcasted on TV in 2 yrs ago, now they have been crazy about Thai costume and claim that Thai costumed belong to them, we stole from them. Khmer are shameless and were upset when Unesco registered Songkran in Thailand, now their government has tried to use the name Songkran in Cambodia, they have their own name in Cambodia for many years and no water festival. As foreigners know Songkran well, they thought it is short-cut to use Songkran instead to use their old name in order to boost their tourist industry. Recently they are not capable to restore old arts in their temple and asked western artists to help them, but they would lose face if Thai artist to do it. They are not the one who built those temple and palace, so they have no knowledge to restore it.
