Same issue.. expensive refrigerator, 3 years use… Just ordered the fan motor online. Had to pull it out to get the part number down. Crazy… Have a $100 mini fridge in the bar w 8 years of use.. no issues whatsoever.

Thank you! I hate calling a repairman for easy, inexpensive fixes. This video is exactly what I needed to do it myself!

Hi Mike. Thanks so much for this video. It certainly helped me out. If you will allow me, I do have one suggestion to make it substantially easier (I actually got the idea from your video when you took the fan off of the shaft to help you reinstall the assembly). I found that you do not have to take the fan motor assembly out of the fridge to swap out the motor. If you take out the screw that holds the assembly to the back of the fridge (to give you some "wiggle room" and remove that plastic J-tube looking thing (it just pulls off, no tools needed) you can then pull the fan off of the shaft (you can even leave the fan in the fridge), then use a small 90º philips screw driver or a short stubby screw driver snaked behind the various tubes to remove the four screws holding the motor in and then just swap in the new motor and put the fan back on the shaft. That way you don't have to wrestle with the motor assembly and risk breaking those tabs on the bottom.

This is not the evaporator fan. This is the condenser fan.

I bent some coils in a very small section of the coil while cleaning. Do you think this is an issue?

I did this last week. But instead of replacing the motor, I put some 3 in 1 oil on the shaft and reinstalled it. Works like new. This was just a stop gap measure until the new motor comes in, but it got us going again for now.

I did the same, and also could not get the fan housing out. That's the most frustrating thing about this video, they skip over the part that was the most difficult (depressing the tabs and getting the housing removed.

On my model LRFVS3006S, even if you manage to unclip the fan/motor housing, there is simply not enough space to take the housing out. Ended up replacing the motor without removing the housing. What a pain in the butt it ended up being.

Thank you for posting this diy. My 2 year old LG fridge started making noise. I isolated the noise to originate from this part. This fan is out of stock again. It must fail a lot. Here’s the part number. EAU64843805

Is there a part number just for the motor assembly? Or, must you purchase the motor with the white fan blades as well? Part numbers?

I had bought it online, you could plug the part number into google through the search bar and you will get many websites of where to buy the new motor for the refrigerator. If you have any other questions, just let me know. Thanks.
