leaving fuel on can dump gas into your crank case? i left mine on for a month sitting there. brushed snow off and it stared real hard then started idling high thinking it was just the cold making it act up. i ride off into the woods for it to die on me. then i noticed a nasty smell from exhaust. so i think no oil? i unscrew the rear oil cap and watch gas and oil (mainly gas) rush out like it was in a hurry or something. is my bike screwed? where do i start to fix this? there is no vent line port on this fuel petcock just 1 gas line from the petcock to carburetor. think if i just change the oil and make sure the gas is shut off after each use will fix this? or do i need to be looking elsewhere for problems.
@RogueMachines174 күн бұрын
most likely you can drain everything out, put in new oil and at least see if any damage was done. You probably did not do any damage but you won't really know until you tear it apart or try running it. If the fuel is left on it can fill the bowl and leak into the combustion chamber and then into the oil. Root cause issue could be a bad or leaking float valve. Correct fix is to replace the float valve, but even new ones can leak. turning off the fuel can prevent this issue entirely

Fords mistake was putting an awd t case matched with the 5.0 explorers and mountaineers. Explorer would have done it at the end if it had a low gear.
@RogueMachines172 ай бұрын
horrible choice by ford. In this instance i already had swapped a 4406 into it so it was in low. However, the open rear killed it. factory 4wds had limited slips mainly which were great for stuff like this
@iprodigy67232 ай бұрын
@RogueMachines17 I just picked a mounty up couple weeks ago with a 5.0 and immediately ordered a 4406 just got it today. Found drivelines and hopefully the rest of the parts from one yard near me. But yea good pointing out the open rear diff may just need to swap my 8.8 out of my xlt expedition before I sell it. 🤷♂️😆

I’m looking to do this for my 99 Explorer that I have on a carribean island. Does either tuner have good low end torque? The roads can be really steep and generally I can’t get over 35 mph.
@RogueMachines177 ай бұрын
Overall, I'd say the SCT tuning was the best. Since that tunning it setup by the tuner device itself, it allows some customization. Found that using the SCT tunes and adding a tad more fuel at Wide open throttle it allowed the motor to accept the timing advance better especially around 3300 which is roughly peak torque

Yes, still emissions compliant. The computer gets its emission readings from the downstream o2 sensors which are before the secondary cats. Therefore the computer sees no difference in emissions and that’s all that matters

Great job wondered when someone would make a video like this, and you make all the steps a lot easier to understand than the forums version and the writeup in the magazine. Now I can reference your video when I do the swap to my 98 exp. xlt. What year f-150 are the leaf springs and shackles from? Also did you hook up the wiring for the on dash 4wd Hi-Low lights? How did you fix it? What about the speedometer how did you make that work? What kind of rim are you running?
@RogueMachines17 Жыл бұрын
I do not recall the exact year F150 but it was late 80s/early 90s 2WD F150 springs. You use the explorer main leaf and then the rest of the F150 pack. I did hookup the wiring, I can draw something up or do a short video on it if interested. Speedometer will depend on the year which I do not recall, but I can try to find it in my notes somewhere. The wheels are a 15x8 Vision 85 Soft 8 wheel with 31x10.5r15 yokohama MT
