I'm sorry y'all but if you put somebody with rhythm to orchestrate that it would have been better 😂 I'm just saying

Bartok's mother died in 1939 before he immigrated to the US. Both ex wife and wife lived long past him. Just a point of correction. But this is a great presentation on one of the best works of the 20th century.

Perhaps better to play the notes without vocalizing them at the same time.

Got to see it performed for the first time last night. I had the hairs on the back of my neck tingling the whole time. Always wanted to see it performed. A hallmark moment for me.

I pray no one stops their treatments prescribed by their oncologists in favor of listening to Beethoven’s 5th Symphony. It is beautiful music, for sure, but it doesn’t cure cancer. Enjoy Beethoven for Beethoven.
Their music helps me get through with my anxiety and depression

Why does he never tell her "more legato, (much, much) less vibrato"? With all his knowledge, this simple thing, that would improve her singing (possibly make it quite pleasant), seems to completely evade him.

In addition to all the other great things about these videos, Dina is fantastic. These orchestral reductions are very difficult, and she whips them out in great shape, with complete attention to all the musical details, nuances of touch, articulation, voicing. All that is always going on in the background supporting the soloist. She's so self-effacing, but she's a huge component of the soloists' success in this and so many other videos in this series.

So good! Although I think I’ve watched too many of these, I’m starting to think I’m Ben and creating my own critique list as I watch… only difference is I’m not a genius! Also - a traditional Dina appreciation nod 🎉

I just love how Ben lays great emphasis on not just playing music out from the sheet but also presents every emotion the music is trying to convey. Music is not just singing or playing it. It is about living in it.
