Really good question and the quick answer is: Yes! I am setting up a new channel dedicated to beginner players and I will start doing live sessions there as well. This will likely be sometime in September.

My name is André, we're living up in BC, Canada. 40km from the US border and not too far from Spokane I think. Billy and Marcus gave it their own twist I think but it is based on Doc Watson's version of this tune I think. The original was by Gershwin

A tough song and all the melodies are in the chords. You look like your guitar is easy to play because your flowing right through the chord changes, Peace 🕊️
@Yourguitarworkshop6 күн бұрын
The neck on the Berlin is a nice to play but for these chord-melody-type songs I've come to appreciate the feel of the stratocaster which has a slightly wider neck. I have fairly big hands so there's more space for finger placement. BTW if you see one of the transcription videos on this tune you can see I was struggling with sections in the beginning for sure. I've just put in a few hours of practice so it is starting to come together. 🙂

...Matues goes on to say in this interview that the guy that actually 'opened his horizons' was actually a band mate who played the keyboard, and the way he used a harmonizer pedal. So no mainstream guitar hero, just a guy in his band producing some really cool sounds.
@Yourguitarworkshop7 күн бұрын
That's an awesome story. I have learned so much from bandmembers. Through them just playing, sharing their thoughts, or telling me I should play a certain part differently to make it work better with the music. guitar heros can inspire us to play but the people we play with shape how we play with others

I know some older vinnie moore stuff, this is new to me. Very virtuoso, wow. (assuming you mean this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/opnVhaWEj55-fKM ) Reminds me of Michael Lee Firkins in places

@@Yourguitarworkshop Oh, I remember Michael Lee Firkins VHS tapes, they were as hard to get in Russia in the 90s as Vinnie Moore. Steve Vai tapes were on every corner back then. But I mean exactly this style - when you use a pick and the middle finger. You can't find any lessons like this on KZbin, only country and bluegrass.

At 10:09 which is bar 30 there is a transition which is somewhat difficult for me, and the F#7(#5) is a difficult chord to play also. I had to reverse the positions of the middle and ring finger to make it easier to play. At one point when I was having trouble making a chord transition to a difficult chord you showed me (I believe) 3 different exercises that would help train the muscle memory. Can't remember what all of those were now---perhaps would make a good 1 or 2 minute quick tutorial?
