@@Tdotttttt Not very. A couple of feet maybe. They drain it in the winter, so you can see it empty a few months at a time.

This is one of the best theaters in Southern California to see a movie in. I was shocked to hear it's closed for business with unspecific "changes". Hope it isn't ruined. Those in ceiling speakers didn't used to be there. When this was a Mann theater they had a board in the lobby that listed all the components of the sound system, as they were proud of the performance it offered.
@coolhrv3 ай бұрын
@@michaelporter8242- Wow, I wish I could've seen that. Working in movie theaters were the best jobs I ever had, and this really was one of the best I ever had the pleasure of visiting.
@michaelporter82423 ай бұрын
@@coolhrv When they played the THX surround sound opener, you could feel the sound pressure wave approach your seat and pass by you as the THX logo flew by. This was the only theater in Westside Los Angeles that had a sound system that could do that. This was THE theater to see movies like Lord of the Rings in, the huge screen plus the sound is a movie experience like no other.

@@michaelporter8242 - I wish I'd come here in the 80s or 90s when there were so many more opportunities and theaters still in operation. Between film production slowing way down and the cost of living rising so high, I might end up having to leave here soon. To have had the chance to work in a classic L.A. theater and make a living on it would've been really something!

The building is/was owned by the same people that own the 99 Cent Store chain in Los Angeles. I suggested to SDJ the other day that we consider trying to run MIRACLE MILE on an outdoor screen in the parking lot if possible and then using the Johnie's as a snack bar, with Spongey running around during the screening. We could even have shopping cart races!
