You people are sick. You don't get what can these cause. They will always represent them as good product. But on a long term so much sickness can happen to human. There is a reason why apples and other fruits rote after a while. Damaging stomach now is such normal diese that we take it lightly. I am not an expert, but my common sense just tell me that the nature should not be changed.

They tasted amazing, crisp, and wonderful! I love the tart flavor of green apples and IT DOESN'T BROWN. SO COOL. I've been wanting to try some for ages and now I did! Thank you for embarking on this project to produce and ship safe, healthy, non-browning, delicious apples.

@huonsmith
@huonsmith 5 жыл бұрын
I really do not understand the whole anti gmo crowd. Here we have a product, proven to not be harmful, proven to have just as much nutritional value as a regular apple, and has the benefit of not going brown, making the apple more aesthetically pleasing and preventing food waste, and for some reason people try to find a reason to not consume it, when there are none. Genetic modification is essentially just a more efficient version of selective breeding. How is it ok to meddle with nature in the form of selective breeding but all of a sudden it becomes dangerous just because we changed a few genes?

Deregulated means they bribed enough people to get a license to poison. As if the revolving door fda actually does tests Below is an accurate portrayal of how this company has slipped poison into our food supply: Fda: "duh dud you do a study?" Corporation: yes, but r&d is private, you will have to take our word that we've done due diligence, including sealed laboratory testing for an entire human generation. Fda: "wow Corporations are just so wise and just and good."

ArcticApples I get you are a firm with a product to offer, you better be behind your product but the truth of the matter is supply should only be produced because of demand. The way I see it this product is being offered because it is a tool for the transgenic movement in big food not remotely because consumers are asking for it. It's a cool project and I wish you well I just hope you don't oppose to being straightforward and letting people know they're buying transgenic apples. If they so choose to support your firm, awesome. Maybe there is a niche Community out there for your product but this is solving a problem that doesn't exist.

Oh sorry, I didn't realize this was written on a professional level. Anyways, I understand that you guys are working hard to improve apples, but I also understand that modifying food isn't healthy for people. If something seems too good to be true, it usually is, as in this case. (It's not really this product specifically, just all GMOs and pesticides in general)

I don't get why we would need this. You can cut an apple and then eat it... No browning. Or add lemon juice/citric acid - no browning... Just more steps to owning the food supply. Eat organic. Also, why won't you just print "Produced with genetic engineering" on the package? At least give consumers a choice of whether or not they support manipulation of nature without having to look up your company or scan a QR or whatever.
@ArcticApples
@ArcticApples 7 жыл бұрын
It's a pretty shocking statistic when you find out that nearly half of all apples produced are wasted - so that's a huge reason why this is needed. Apple waste doesn't just occur at home after apples are cut. Bruising and superficial browning occurs across all segments of the supply chain from the orchard to packing facilities to transportation to retailers, resulting in apples unnecessarily being thrown out. Also, our apples slices are preservative-free which means that the taste of our apples won't be altered like other apple slices that are on the market. All our products will be clearly branded with our name and logo - our story and the science behind it is much more than a word and we really want to give consumers the complete picture so they can educate themselves about the benefits of biotechnology.

I don't support any GM "food" at all, and as long as they don't label Genetically Modified Organisms as such, it is a crime against humanity and a violation of our consumer rights, Americans, and, in this global economy, the entire humanity. This product is completely unnecessary and poses several risks to apple growers, the food industry, and consumers. The worst thing about GMO's is that they are not labeled because you are paying off the current corrupt governments while polluting our food systems. As long as GMO's are not labeled, it is a corporate scam, no matter how many fake reviews and purchased articles and publications you release to keep the public confused. You interest is obviously keeping you very biased - only greed and control on your mind, no matter what's at stake.

Transparency has always been an important initiative for Okanagan Specialty Fruits and will continue to be. We’ve made every effort to educate the public about how our apples were developed and they’ve gone through strict regulatory approvals to ensure that they are just as safe as any other conventional apple. All Arctic® apple products will be clearly labelled with our logo making our brand easily identifiable. In addition, our packaging will give consumers access to further information about our story and how Arctic® apples were developed. Arctic® apples unique nonbrowning trait in fact benefits every sector of the supply chain from farmers to retailers to consumers. Our interests are plain and simple - reduce food waste and increase apple consumption.

Shut up Amber you have no idea what you’re talking about all they did was knock out a gene encoding an enzyme that catalyzes the browning reaction when the apple tissue is exposed to oxygen there’s absolutely no logical reason why this would be harmful to people, the apple trees, or the environment. You fear what you don’t understand and have fallen victim to conspiracy theories I bet you’re an anti-vaxxer who thinks the government put fluoride in the water to cloud your third eye too.

First of all, you people are extremely smart. Bravo. I have a question, these apples are green and aren't currently on the market. I know most people prefer red apples because they usually are more sweet than green apples. Are your apples the same? Do your scientists plan to make different apple types?
@ArcticApples

Hi Mallow Master, thanks for the kind words and your questions! The apples we have growing in our orchards are primarily Arctic Granny and Arctic Golden varieties, which are simply nonbrowning versions of Granny Smith and Golden Delicious. They have the same taste, nutrition, grow the same in the orchard, etc. As for red apples, the next variety we plan to market will be Arctic Fuji, with Arctic Gala expected to follow. So, two sweeter red varieties are on the way!
