This is a hard one 😢 Paul Di'Anno Was the first recording Frontman for Iron Maiden (They had a previous frontman that didn't last long). Paul combined metal, punk and some prog rock into the mix in their first 2 albums, which are a cornerstone of Maiden's history: The self-titled debut album in 1980, and Killers in 1981. Two of my favorite Maiden albums ever, because it's a face we never saw again in the band. Bruce Dickinson, although being the hugely celebrated, de facto Iron Maiden voice that can NEVER be replaced, could NEVER give the Di'Anno songs the proper color and life. This did not stop the band from pl;aying these songs live every time they had a chance - in fact, for almost every concert they have played, Maiden has closed with Paul DiAnno's "Iron Maiden" song. In these past years, Di'Anno reunited with Steve Harris and the whole Maiden Crew, including meeting Bruce Dickinson for the first time in 30 years. The band agreed to pick up all of Di'Anno's medical bills shortly after, as Di'Anno had been sick for a long time. He had suffered issues with Sepsis (this one nearly took his life), multiple MRSA bouts, and a knee replacement that never came to pass. While bound to a wheelchair, Di'Anno still made good music, keeping rock and roll going on with his style. And make NO mistake: Paul Di'Anno was an instrumental part in laying the foundation for what Iron Maiden was, and is today: one of the biggest, most influential Metal bands of all time. Both the public and rock musicians in general owe him a LOT. RIP Paul Di'Anno, and THANK YOU for your music and undeniable legacy, which influenced countless musicians, and even some gigantic bands such as Pantera, Anthrax, Sepultura, Exodus and Metallica.

how many bands sound like Iron Maiden with bruce dickinson? theres whole genres of music that copy maiden... But you cant name 5 bands that sound like the band from the album killers and debut maiden album.... lets hope new generations find out about how originals those 2 albums are because dont get me wrong, when people say "all Iron Maiden albums sound the same" is because all bruce and Nicko did later PS... The number of the beast is really special too, and even with bruce sounds nothing like the rest Iron Maiden albums, that I still love... but killers is my favorite heavy metal album of all time , a lot of people copy maiden , but no the metal crossover punk Dianno had

This fucking album….i would not change a thing. Fucking core of metal and to me it just lights the 20 megaton gas light burner in my soul and makes it rage. I don’t know what else to say.

One thing that has struck me for over 40 years - which I have not been able to really articulate until recently - is the fantastic differences between David and Adrian….i was always naturally drawn to both of their playing and it is the most perfect combination of any dual guitar band because they both get plenty of solos instead of a “leader”…..David is so fluid and legato…whereas Adrian is more angular and aggressive. I couldn’t give a shit about speed or who plays fast…these two are perfect compliments to each other in style. They are both awesome in their own way and together dominate the pack of town guitar attacks. I did not like the addition of the 3rd guitarist and still don’t.

The original cover depicted the band's mascot, Eddie, holding the severed head of singer Paul Di'Anno. The replacement cover was done on very short notice after Iron Maiden's manager, Rod Smallwood, received a proof for review, and became agitated at Di'Anno's depiction because the band was looking to replace him.

The first really heavy metal album I had. I had it on one side of an analog tape with I don't even remember what on the other side. Call me a bitch but it brings tears listening to this now. I love both versions of Iron Maiden both as far as I'm concerned there is no topping The stuff with Paul Di'anno. This album introduced me to heavy metal. It can never be loud enough.
