We all have our mountains, and many of us know we will never reach the top. But this song, and the speech that inspired it, gives us the strength and the faith to carry on.

Lyrics: [ Up To The Mountain ] I went up to the mountain Because you asked me to Up over the clouds To where the sky was blue I could see all around me Everywhere I could see all around me Everywhere Sometimes I feel like I've never been nothing but tired And I'll be working Till the day I expire Sometimes I lay down No more can I do But then I go on again Because you ask me to Some days I look down Afraid I will fall And though the sun shines I see nothing at all Then I hear your sweet voice, oh Oh, come and then go, come and then go Telling me softly You love me so The peaceful valley Just over the mountain The peaceful valley Few come to know I may never get there Ever in this lifetime But sooner or later It's there I will go Sooner or later It's there I will go👃

Patty is phenomenal, but I also tip my hat to her backing band here. They absolutely nail tasteful accompaniment that shows Patty's voice to advantage and serves the beautiful song. The whole performance is a paradox -- so well-disciplined and resonant that it soars to freedom.

I didn’t get to edit any of the things I said before, but what I do believe is that if you listen to this song, you should find inspiration, and Patty Griffin is an amazing artist who may never be known in her time, but she certainly changed my life in my time and I’m glad she’s still alive and I am too. Thank you Patty Griffin. I love you. My brother introduced me to you 25 or six years ago.

God, I love this song. I need to song. This song gives me motivation to live every time I hear it. I don’t know why more people don’t know Patty Griffin but I’m glad I do. And I’ve always wish more people knew Patty Griffin and I wish even more people would right now . do you know how when you’re a kid some people are unforgettable and you always remember who they are Aretha Franklin, Muhammad Ali, Dr. Martin Luther King, Nina, Simone, and so many people that will never be famous because they didn’t want to be. They are teachers people who stood up and remembered people, and demonstrated how they behaved in history to make the world a different place which is where we live now because of them.

Where is now my father's family That was here so long ago? Sitting 'round the kitchen fireside Brightened by the ruddy glow We shall all be reunited In that land beyond the skies Where there'll be no separation No more marching, no more sighs Some have gone to lands far distant And with others made their home Some upon the world of waters All their lives have chose to roam We shall all be reunited In that land beyond the skies Where there'll be no separation No more marching, no more sighs Some have gone from us forever For with us they could not stay They have all dispersed and wandered Gone away, so far away We shall all be reunited In that land beyond the skies Where there'll be no separation No more marching, no more sighs

Any information about the names of the songs?
@cneville22 жыл бұрын
You can find them. The songs are all taken from the Sacred Harp. (1991 edition) The number of the page on which the song appears is announced before each song. If you search that number with the words "Sacred Harp" it is almost certain you will find another video from another Convention with the name of the song.
