I prefer the Rubio Monocoat. I love the fact that it brings out the natural look of the wood.

HEY THERE! Hope everything is fine up there...I was just thinking about what you were thinking about trying to match the cigarette burn on the table. It popped into my head to try pigments from a good set of neutral mineral-based EYESHADOWS! Why not? Not the cheapie ones, but ones from mineral based companies like Laura Geller or Bare Minerals brand, they will have higher qualities to them, may be more light fast. Get the brown based "nude" palettes for mix n match color tones. I think this might prove successful. Try it! ❤

Wow, I came from your furniture videos and wasn’t sure I’d like this but I did! I feel very happy seeing old things not tossed but restored and used again, thank you 🙏🏻🙏🏻

Love this! Other tool restoration videos use all sorts of fancy equipment and devices that a normal person could never possess. Your video makes me feel like it's within my reach. I am dedicated to repairing instead of replacing things that break, and have a shop full of older tools. I appreciate what you do (and you seem like a lovely person). Thank you!

That egg beater drill came out great. I wished there was a way to take the chuck apart! I have a chuck which needs to be taken apart so i can put the springs back into the holes of the chuck wedge bits. Oh well.

#1 love the original look. I just bought a 1957 Lane Console with chips and spots but I am not brave enough to do a total refinish. What do you recommend for “spot restoration”? Thanks!

I love the bits of history you include…. hey, that company had a place in St. Catherine’s, Ont! Just down the highway from me!! Fantastic cleanup on this monkey wrench. Which gets me to thinking about the saying “throwing a monkey wrench into the works” ???

Hello Barry, Love your content and how you explain your work. You do such a fine job on both. I feel like #1 is the winner for me. That one shows the grain off very well, along with the contrast.

No lead test on the paint? 👎 It's common for the paint of that time period to have lead in it. Proper disposal of toxic and/or hazardous materials is the responsible thing to do. But first you must identify whether or not you are dealing with hazardous materials...

1 looks best to me. But I'm glad to see the options involving less effort & exposure. I think consideration of how the table will be used is paramount. Thanks for this! What a great reference for future projects!

I like listening to your comments, you said you go back and rewatch the video and add comments as you see fit. Great idea. I think if people would rather not listen to comments, they could mute the video. Win win, those of us who look forward to listening to you chat and explain can, and those who prefer no talking don’t have to. In the end all of us can enjoy the beautiful work you do together. Also I see there is very few videos listed for this site, and they are a year old. Did you change the name or move it?

My Dad had this tool and used it for years before he bought a power drill. I even used it on a few projects as a boy. I forgot that the bits were kept in the handle!.He's passed away, but it's still in my Mom's garage. I was visiting her a few months ago and needed a drill and tried to use it but it was in sad shape. After watching your restoration, I think I will give it a try. Thanks!
