I am so grateful for this video. I have heard so many people speak about intarsia as though it is the most difficult thing in the world till I assumed it would be way to hard for me. You made it seem like I could actually do this. And I love that cowl! I am going to try this. Thank again!

I just received my first order from Gothfarm Yarns. As a natural dyer, I was shopping for undyed yarn online, specifically Churro. I found her site online and later I saw the brand when shopping in Austin. I wanted to try spinning and "up my game" so as soon as I got my hands on a drop spindle I placed an order! I was not disappointed! Everything I chose was divine. Hopefully, I do it justice as a newbie spinner. I just started a micro-farm... so far I have goats and chickens, but the goal is to work with fiber rabbits! That is not happening until I go a full week without having to wrangle an animal back into its pen, LOL...💗

TY for the overview. Your Maximize Shawl is very pretty and a good example of a non-pooling strategy. Would you kindly update your Revelry project page to include some photos of that shawl, please?

i never realized before the striping issue, the point you made about choosing a color that was not in the variegated yarn to get stripes. That was very helpful, thank you!

Wish I had found this video before I started knitting my shawl 😂 I'm about 1/4 the way through of this VERY variegated yarn. It's got earthy green, gold, amber, teal, blue, cream, purple and pink 😂. I didn't know the golds and greens were in there cause the outer ball was just the purples and blues and I was like "Ummm wow okay that's weird" 😂. Now I feel like I have to finish since I got 2 skeins of this weird coloring yarn. I should've doubled it with a solid yard to blend it I think. Or striped it with a solid. Wish I could add photos to this comment so you can see these colors lol.

That tongue-in-cheek smile suits you. =) I didn‘t realize there was such a thing as square shawls, they seem counterintuitive. But you perfectly showed that they are basically every-other-type-at-the-same-time. I‘ll keep that in mind.

‚Pick a colour that‘s not in the skein‘, she said - followed by her staring at the rainbow skein. That was hilarious. ;D Very good tips for this type of yarn. I haven‘t bought this kind yet, but I haven been curious… thank you!

Thank you Janet.This is a great series. I LOVE to find uses my stash and using scraps would be so gratifying. I just had no idea how. Considering modular pieces and the hat ideas AND using a solid sock pattern and adding stripes is . . . enlightenment.

Love the idea of a swatch ladder but... what if the ball band is no longer attached to the yarn? Also, how many sized needles do you recommend going down and up for the ladder?
@stringtheoryyarnco473
@stringtheoryyarnco473 3 жыл бұрын
So, if you don't have the ball band you need to do a Wraps per Inch test to determine what weight yarn you have. Here is where I would start my swatch ladder per weight: fingering - US1 Sportweight - US3 DK - US5 Worsted - US7 Chunky - US9 Bulky - there is a such a range here that it might not make sense but probably a US11 If you have the ball band, I would go down two needle sizes to start. Thanks for asking!
