What size tires would you use for this , awesome video😊
@thunsak069 ай бұрын
Thank you! This race I was on 38’s only because of the mud we experienced during the day. I would much prefer a larger tire volume for this event when it’s dry. 45mm or larger.

Thanks for doing these they are all smart and great !!! Attach the GPX/GPS file with them and upload to Kinomap* and we will all ride along with you in the winter. 🚲😁 (I would say Rouvy* too but they have gotten so corporate and decided to stop supporting user uploaded geolocated videos from riders.....duh) Zwift who ?

Man that was impressive…. You guys were flying… the riders you caught,,were they from other age groups? I heard to race too I had pay 329? Is this for real? The last few kilometres ( because let’s face it, the universal measurement is metric) was intense… that guy that attacked on the left side….wasn’t sure he’d make that final corner, shit he flew in there!😳 thanks for the upload, been waiting for says to see the course. Any idea where it will be next year?
@thunsak06 Жыл бұрын
Thanks @lazlo2511. Our race had 3 age groups. 50-54, 55-59 & 60-64. We all started together, but as you saw, I was in a crash 12 miles in, so I was probably close to last place. The riders I passed were all from those age groups. I don’t remember how much I paid, but $329 was the last minute price. If you register earlier, it’s cheaper. Worth the price either way. USAC cycling National Championships events are top notch! Next year will be at the same venue. They run the same for 2 years then change to another state. That guy that came up my inside almost beat me. We had the same finish time. Hard to see in the video, but we were a group of 15 to 20 riders sprinting to the line. Glad you enjoyed the video.

I don't know why so many people run rigid on their gravel bikes. A cheap as dirt coil suspension fork with 30-40 mm of travel and a cheap suspension seatpost, that's the way to go. It will help with comfort and traction.
@thunsak06 Жыл бұрын
You’re probably right @ritchyrich1076. Although most of the roads are fairly smooth, there’s a case for being as light as possible.

Few reasons for bouncing. Tires too much pressure, bad saddle height (not size properly) wrong tire width choice. Do people ride a mountain Bike hard tail. I would ride a hardtail bike with rigid fork some enve wheels m525 and Maxxis rekon race tires. 😅 I will still run a flat bar 750mm with and full AXS groupset. I did see someone with rim brakes. Got to love that ❤

Hi Todd,,what supplement brand or solid food did you use to maintain the 100 carbs per hour ? thanks
@thunsak06 Жыл бұрын
Hi Bob, last year I was using scratch super fuel 85 grams per bottle. Scratch hydration in pack with about 20 grams per hour. Then using a mix of sis gels an a few solid energy bars. Only ate solids once every 3 hours just to help settle the tummy a bit. It takes time to train your gut to take on so much sugar for so long, but it’s necessary for these long events.
