O M G This is not new, is just a forgotten ideas from the 50’s. I’m about to install one in a 2011 kia soul. The electric one is $500+, the mechanical is $50… so mechanical it is.

My mom bought my dad a brand new Ford F-250 Camper Special with a 390, automatic transmission and factory A/C top off with a over the cab 10'6" Mitchell Camper. It was a great truck except for the gas mileage 8mpg !

Very well, can you please explain how you have clamped the Bowden cable and how you solve it again. I would be very grateful. Great idea, super easy. TOP. I would like to build something like that for my F-100 from 1969, THANK YOU !

Thank goodness there's still a few of us that like to preserve them as they were. I have a '69 F250. It is not a camper special. Coincidently I have chosen the Ford blue that yours is (mine's originally a light baby blue which I don't care for) Should be on the road next summer. I don't do the Edelbrock thing as its not a Ford part. Oh---I notice your fuel gauge was getting close to E (eek!!!) ummm, don't think I'd trust it that low while stepping on it, LOL.

Thanks! The exhaust has been replaced, but no upgrades or modifications have been made to it, other than headers. I don't know torque or hp on it, somewhere in the ballpark of 300hp, but I have no idea. MPG at 7000 ft is around 10 and at sea level around 17mpg. As far as cost goes, the engine was about $3000 and the bodywork and paint was about $5000. Might I suggest Maaco as a cheaper alternative for bodywork and paint. Depending on how bad the sheet metal is on your truck (ie. rust, dents, etc.), a paint job from there would set you back about $500-$700. You do get what you pay for, however. I also had my engine stripped down and rebuilt from the ground up. It's basically a new engine. If your engine runs fine, I wouldn't worry too much about going too far into it. I'm all about reliability. Good luck on your resto!
@hoss73ford9 жыл бұрын
+Blazer Bogger Maaco said they'd do my '74 F250 supercab for about $800 since it is a metallic color ( dark blue) and it doesn't need much bodywork (told them not to worry about the bed floor as I'm putting a mat and camper shell on it) I've had good luck with them and just want it to look good going down the road. It originally had headers on it but I took them off. For one thing they blocked the starter and second had a clutch went out I would have had to remove the whole thing as it sat right on the transmission crossmember. This will have stock mufflers, but my '69 will have glass packs with full length tailpipes.
@TheThirdWheel6187 жыл бұрын
Blazer Bogger What type of headers did you use ??? I bought a 69 I'm slowly but surely working on motor and trans is in but to break in the motor I put the original log manifolds . I want headers but not ones that interfere with anything .....
@TheThirdWheel6187 жыл бұрын
Blazer Bogger Also yeah mine is going to Earl shibe no way I can afford 5 k for paint

I love the truck, glad to see it restored. Is that the stock exhaust? How much HP and Torque now? How is the MPG? And, if you don't mind me asking. How much did the restoration cost? I have one and I want to restore it. I have the same engine and transmission, but mine is a Ranger/Camper Special.

Sweet truck. I've always liked Camper Special trucks, because they're built to withstand the heavy load, like either hauling a camper on the bed of the truck, or if one were so inclined, tow a travel trailer behind.
