What game is that? I love the Metroidvanias that go the "Metroid" route where you play as a soldier turning into what is essentially a Spartan from Halo. Shadow Complex is one of my favorites.

I love a metroidvania, but lean more towards the vania part. The two types are the Metroidians which are based on skill and finding items/abilities whereas the vanias have a level/experience based system where if you are having difficulty with a tough enemy or boss you can level up a bunch to make it easier.
