@garylamont898 Hey Gary, I'm about to put the top on my Chopped Model A. Can I please get some recommendations from ya? Looking to know what's the best gun for spraying the glue. The nozzle size you use in the gun and at what pressure you are spraying. Any help you be greatly appreciated. All the best BrothA. Hope you had a great Christmas and I wish you the best in 2025. 👊😎🤙. Thanks Gary ✨️

I use a old Devilbiss paint gun with a size 30 tip I just adjust the air pressure so that it sprays out good. Not sure what the pressure is. I don’t have any gauges on my stuff but if I were to guess I would say around 40 to 50 PSI

They have two different types of molding one is square stock it’s polished aluminum and the other is color key molding you have to bend and fit both they come straight Miami corp should have them

I'm putting a Legendary Interiors headliner into my 1972 Cutlass 442 and it is beating me up. I have wrinkles galore. I am using the paperclip method, and it isn't going as smoothly as I'd have hoped. My headliner material seems stiffer/thicker than the one you're using. It was really wrinkled after we hung it by the bows and stretched it and held it in place with the metal clips. This morning, I put an electric space heater that looks like a steam radiator in the car for an hour and then went out and re-stretched and clipped it all around. It looks better but still has a lot of wrinkles in the rear. Tomorrow I'll heat up the inside and re-stretch it again. I may use a handheld steamer to get it smoother. The video I used said to unclip 6 to 8 inches and then glue it and stick it in place and to move around the headliner until done. I think I will undo the front and sides one at a time. glue both parts of each side and then stick then together?? My first and last headliner at 72 years of age! Love your video and results!

@garylamont898 I'm asking because I have an 85 brougham I want to put a top back on it but don't want water to get underneath Ive done research but haven't found anything to protect it from rain so I'm guessing I should keep it covered
@garylamont898Ай бұрын
@ I would keep it covered if it’s outside because moisture will get under the moldings and eventually rust or get one of those carports to put it under so it doesn’t get wet

Pretty sure you have to because the fabric goes underneath the Crome molding if the molding is somewhat loose you might be able to tuck it under it

I have just glued the foam (closed cell) on my 1988 Brougham and it's great but the glue stick quick and does not allow for readjustment. What is the right way to apply the Weldwood contact cement and be able to manage the vinyl top in place before pressing it down? This video doesn't explain that point.
@garylamont8984 ай бұрын
Mark a centerline on the top and Mark centerline on the vehicle glue the top first place the top on the center line. I flip over the top halfway put just a small amount of glue just in the center area. Set your centerline then glue each side separate from there.
@oh8wingman4 ай бұрын
An old trick that works when using contact cement to give you time to play around a bit is to place waxed paper sheets between the two surfaces. Contact cement will not stick to waxed paper so you can pull it out in strips one at a time and get you foam straight before pressing it down. Work slowly and in increments that you can handle and you should do alright.

If you can’t find them in a junk yard you have to make them I use fiberglass shower board and silicone around the outer edge stick it right to the window I have made many custom tops that lasted for years that way you just have to pad it up a little more and shape it
