Do you square your sheets off first before cutting your pieces...or at least check for square first. I just made some cabinets for our murphy bed and the ends were about 1/4" off from square.

I don’t. I cut my sheets, then check that the pieces I’ve cut are square.

Hi Shara. I started woodworking as a hobby after retiring. Your cabinet series was a handy tutorial. Your explanations are succinct, easy to follow, and your projects are very practical. Thanks.

Looks amazing. My question is, why don't you use maple? You'll only be spending around $30 more in lumber, and you can get 4x4s, so no glue ups.
@WoodshopDiaries
@WoodshopDiaries 5 күн бұрын
Thanks! Maple would be significantly more than $30 difference (at least where I am), and maple 4x4s are not available in any store I’ve ever seen around here so I’d still be gluing them up.

How did you put on your handles? Did you use a jig, self leveling lasers, or just a tape measure? Because I am in the middle of this build, and thought, how did she get her handles perfectly aligned.

The material list is in the description. Since material prices vary greatly day to day and by location, you can find your estimated cost to build by using the list included and your current local prices.

My mom has almost these same pantry cabinets in her kitchen. Only difference is she has pull outs all the way up on the lower part of the cabinet and hers are built into the wall bumping into the garage. Great job I want to build these now

Shara. The commission I’m working on, the client wants the cabinet painted. I saw you chose to roll and brush the paint. Did you have problems with streaks? What type of paint did you use?
@WoodshopDiaries
@WoodshopDiaries 7 күн бұрын
I use a high quality brush (either Purdy or Wooster brand usually), prime, and paint with SW emerald paint. It’s thick and self leveling and evens out brush strokes.

Made some of the picture frames today -- couldn't get the angled side to work, is there a trick I'm missing? The ones I did with flat sides all came out great. Thank you!
@WoodshopDiaries
@WoodshopDiaries 7 күн бұрын
Hi! No special trick, but you have to glue them up so that the slots align.
@CoachCarl
@CoachCarl 7 күн бұрын
@@WoodshopDiaries Ok dumb question: the slot on the vertical piece is angled back just like the vertical piece itself is too, right? Might be I just didn't make my slot deep enough to let the plexiglass angle
@WoodshopDiaries
@WoodshopDiaries 7 күн бұрын
@CoachCarl absolutely possible and if your blade is thinner than mine or your plexiglass is thicker, it could be that the slot isn’t wide enough to accommodate the pieces at a slight angle. You may need to make two passes for the slot
@CoachCarl
@CoachCarl 7 күн бұрын
