As he said the gap between good grassroots and academy at age 7 and 8 is small, but the gap gets larger and larger when they gets older……..a question for pros, aren’t you signing players too early this way?! You could miss&waste talents, why can’t you sign players at 12 like in the older days, let kids enjoy their football a bit longer, and put parents’ at easy a bit

Great point. We explore these toics and much more on our new Parent in football platform launching later this month (June). Please join us there for loads more conversations and different perspectives shared by parents and industry professionals. Lots more from Chris too!.

You should’ve got his take on nepotism in football. Seeing as his son just got released from Arsenal and while on trial has been shocking for West Ham u18s, so much so he got terrorised by a schoolboy when he played against Arsenal and they lost 8-0!!!! If that had been any other trialist they would never have been signed. But because it’s his son he gets signed. Should’ve asked him about that. Nepotism getting in the way of other more deserving players and taking playing time from them!

Really interesting but it’s disconcerting and distracting seeing the two ladies nodding and rocking forwards and backwards throughout. In the end zoomed in on Les Smith Rowe to cut visual of Marcia and Kat out! Sorry ladies I have returned to add this…… possibly I am being unfair in that this was meant as a podcast for listeners rather than visual here on here, KZbin!

Love this insight. Just found out about this podcast from Myles' interview on the Arsenal website. I can so relate to what Chuka is saying about the parents giving instructions to the players. I've coached my sons team from U7s to current U9s and half the battle is managing parents expectations. Good luck to Myles on his Arsenal career such love to see the young guns progressing 💪

There are some very serious flaws within clubs, lack of compliance, safeguarding concerns, record keeping and general duty of care, particularly around retain / release and how this is handled; together with aftercare for boys who all fall into the vulnerable category when released.
@no1fanclub Жыл бұрын
This is why we set up the No1Fan.club. Some football clubs do a great job but we parents are ultimately the No1Fans - we need support from others to support our kids - especially if they are struggling. 🙏

@@no1fanclub Support must come from responsible individuals within Clubs as otherwise there'll be another parent mourning the loss of a son, as the late Jeremy Wistons parents have had to after his suicide.
